My laptop got infected by Rapid Antivirus 2.7 but I thought I had removed it using its own uninstall tool (dumb I know).

Now, Ad-Aware and running a full Norton AV scan causes the laptop to crash and reboot. I ran Hijackthis and the log is below. Also, on every boot up I get an iguynprd.dll error "C:\WINDOWS\system32\iguynprd.dll the specified module could not be found".

Your help is appreciated on getting this crap off my machine!!

Thanks guys.

Hi,

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Hi and thanks for your help. I downloaded Anti-Malware and ran it, the log file is below. I was unable to update it before running it (it said it could not reach the web site) Hiwever I was able to update it after the run! Trying to run it again it finds 3 infected objects before hanging, I don't know why.

I have also attached the Hijackthis log after the Anti-Malware log.

Hi,

Next we'll use ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:
http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix
  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.

Hi Screen317

can I just download, install and run the ComboFix tool or do I need the Windows Recovery Console too? I can't see it on the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994 page.

Cheers and thanks
Scots

Scotsman2001,

Sorry for the delay..

Please open HijackThis, and select Do a system scan only.

Place a checkmark next to the following entry (if present):

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: qkzdxk.dll

Then, close all other open windows, leaving only HijackThis open, and select Fix checked.

Next, please use the Internet Explorer browser, and do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Note: If you have used this particular scanner before, you MAY HAVE TO UNINSTALL the program through Add/Remove Programs before downloading the new ActiveX component

Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
  • Click Run at the Security prompt.
  • The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
  • Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  • Click View scan report at the bottom.
  • Click the Save Report As... button.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply.
**Note**

To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
  • Close any open programs.
  • Turn off the real-time scanner of all antivirus or antispyware programs while performing the online scan.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the license is accepted, reset to 100%.

Also... Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u11.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the pull down menu next to Platform select Windows
  • Check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement"
  • Click Continue
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u11-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Restart your computer, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

After that, please download JavaRa and unzip it to your Desktop.

Double click JavaRa.exe then click Remove Older Versions.

Follow any prompts; a log will popup (JavaRa.log)-- please post the contents of this log.

Finally, download my Security Check from here or here and save it to your Desktop.
  • Unzip SecurityCheck.zip and a folder named Security Check should appear.
  • Open the Security Check folder and double-click Security Check.bat
  • Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
Note: if a security program requests permission from dig.exe to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Hey there screen317,

I had to update my Java before I could run the Kaspersky Online Scanner, so a bit out of step of your instructions. Anyway, here are the logs.
Cheers

HI there,

had a problem running BitDefender, it did find and delete virus files but then hung and I had to stop the scan. I can't post a log but it did remove Backdoor.Generic.139291 in a file MovieMediaPlayer_071101000055.exe by deleting the .exe file

Sorry I can't post the log, should I run it again?

Scots

Yes please give it another try.

If no joy, do the following instead:

Please use the Internet Explorer browser and click here to use the F-Secure Online Scanner.
  • Click Start Scanning.
  • You should get a notification bar (on top) to install the ActiveX control.
  • Click on it and select to install the ActiveX.
  • Once the ActiveX is installed, you should accept the License terms by clicking OK below to start the scan.
  • In case you are having problems with installing the ActiveX/starting the scan, please read here.
  • Click the Full System Scan button.
  • It will start to download scanner components and databases. This can take a while.
  • The main scan will start.
  • Once the scan has finished scanning, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button
  • It could be possible that your firewall gives an alert - allow it, because that's a connection you establish to submit infected files to F-Secure.
  • The cleaning can take a while, so please be patient.
  • Then click the Show report button and Copy/Paste what is present under results in your next reply.

Thanks
