It seems like the problems just don't stop. Last night when I was using notepad, it started closing randomly. I thought I just needed to reboot, but today, when I went on my website, firefox closed! And all this is happening right when I'm writing my final paper...

Here's my hijack this log:

The problem seems to have subsided. I cleaned out my registry, and I heightened the security of my firewall.

Quick question: I program as much as I can, but I accidentally created a memory leak a few weeks ago. Could this have been the cause of my problem, and was cleaning up my registry the solution?

What ever you did worked.

For now submit a fresh HijackThis log for final review.

Your log is clean.
anothrguitarist
Thanks for looking it over.

I wonder why I keep experiencing these elusive problems. It seems pretty unusual, and they're quite annoying. It seems that my computer is clean and I am no longer encountering any strange glitches, so you can close this topic.

Thanks again,
John

I have a program called S in the program control section of zonealarm. Is this something to be worried about?

And yesterday, my internet suddenly stopped working for a time. I rebooted twice and then it worked again... Is there another scan we could do?
nasdaq
If you click that S program what details do you see in the botton window?
anothrguitarist
There are actually four versions of it

Product name M
File name C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\Install\NDP20-KB917283-X86.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version 1
Last modified date 6/2/2006 14:30:46
File size 754 KB

Product name M
File name C:\Documents and Settings\John\Desktop\VS80sp1-KB926748-X86-INTL.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version 1
Last modified date 4/15/2007 19:41:06
File size 44554 KB

etc.

Looking at it now, it appears that it is associated with visual studio 2005 service pack 1.
nasdaq
Correct nothing to worry about.
anothrguitarist
Good, there are a couple of other programs that I don't recognize:

This program are two programs that I made, but it shouldn't be in zone alarm:

Product name
File name c:\documents and settings\John\my documents\visual studio projects\teach yourself cpp in 21 days exercises\freestorearray\debug\FreeStoreArray.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version
Last modified date 4/16/2007 19:41:34

Last policy update Not applicable
Version
Last modified date 5/8/2007 12:56:32
File size 40 KB

And here are some that look suspicious:

Product name
File name C:\Program Files\Xinox Software\JCreatorV4LE\GE2001.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version
Last modified date 1/4/2007 17:11:44
File size 120 KB

Product name
File name C:\Program Files\EnglishOtto\uninstallotto.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version
Last modified date 7/31/2006 18:49:54
File size 37 KB

Product name
File name C:\Program Files\DISC\myFTP.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version 3.33.2005.406
Last modified date 4/7/2006 1:50:16
File size 92 KB

Product name
File name C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Temp\A~NSISu_.exe
Last policy update Not applicable
Version
Last modified date 7/31/2006 18:49:54
File size 37 KB

Other than that my only problems are that my internet did not work the other night for a while. And windows update froze (but I reported the problem to microsoft and I was able to fix the problem by downloading a hotfix...)

I hate to take up your time, so if we close this and any problems return in the near future, could we reopen this topic?

At one time you have to give permission to Zone Alarm to accept these programs.
They are not causing any problems and should you use them again they will be accepted by ZA. So leave them alone.

C:\Program Files\Xinox Software\JCreatorV4LE\GE2001.exe
Google GE2001.exe and decide if you want to keep it.

C:\Program Files\EnglishOtto\uninstallotto.exe
His this relevent?
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms977646.aspx

C:\Program Files\DISC\myFTP.exe
Google myFTP.exe and decide if you want to keep it.

C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Temp\A~NSISu_.exe
http://www.greatis.com/appdata/a/a/a~nsisu_.exe.htm
I think you can delete it.

I keep my topics open for 10 day. Unless you have problems I will see what I can do.
I will not however search for programs on the web unless you have make an effort to search before.
My time is limited.

Should the topic be closed I suggest you start a new one with an appropriate title.
anothrguitarist
Everything is running smoothly, and I don't anticipate any further issues.

Thanks again.
