      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

  1. Lance, No further problems yet. How come the ESET managed to pick up those viruses (and I assume deleted them) when nothing else did? It makes we wonder why I paid for Prevx. Should I change? Did the log files show anything else? Regards, BW

  4. It says not to post a log file until told to do so. I didn't. Then 'Our helpers can't help without details to review..' So which one is the correct protocol? It always used to be 'wait until asked to post'. Any road, here it is: My OS system is Vista. Thanks guys. 5. Hi guys, it's been a long time since I was last here! I had a case of Agent.EG (rootkit) which my Prevx says is clear now. I'm not 100% happy as I know what a drama it was to remove! Any chance one of you 'knowledgeable folk' would take a look at a log HJT file or similar? I don't know of anyone more suited to ask. Kind Regards, BW. EDIT: Please read the FAQ and post a log... Our helpers can't help without details to review...
  6. Chaps, It began well.... I was very pround to have successfully fitted a new hard drive (Samsung 80GB) and re-installed Windows XP. Got a new 17" monitor and even set my printer up ok (we have history..) However, now I have NO audio/sound and not even a speaker icon in my tray. I have noticed that the VIA RAID Tool is now NOT starting up (I don't miss it as it slowed start-up down) but does anyone think that this may have been somehow linked before to my ability to play sound? If I right click on My Computer/manage/Device manager I do get those yellow question marks next to; Other devices/Mulitmedia Audio Controller, PCI Simple Communications Manager, RAID Controller and USB Cable Modem. Is this linked...? Any help would be great. Regards, B14
  7. That's great. Thanks for that. Not sure why we need a firewall though. Maybe it's just the 'in thing'. Still, if it's secure then that's good. ;D Thanks again H777. Regards. B.
  8. Chaps, my kids (aged 16+17) want to download a programme called 'Peer Guardian'. Has anyone any opinion on this software or know if it comes with any 'unwanted extras' as it were..? They want to keep their pc 'invisible' but are a little sketchty as to why.... Any clues? B.
  9. Nasdaq, Many, many thanks for the info which was a great help. Things seem a little better to start up now. I have attached a new log file as requested. I also ran a search and located the 'prefetch' file (which I would attach but it won't cut & paste!) and was wondering if it could be 'managed' manually? Is it possible to select what is chosen to run at start up? Not that I could understand what some of the exe.files were - 29 in total! Just thought this might help in the future. As usual you 'Knowledgeable Folk' have saved the day - again. Your help, and that of the team, keeps us mortals from the perils of cyberspace... Ian. Enc. 10. Chaps, I have noticed that my machine gets ever slower to start up. I have read the FAQ and I've defragged, cleaned hard drive of dust, checked memory (loads left!) and deleated loads of unused stuff. I've run a HJT (I am kind of familiar with HJT and what I see when the really obvious bad stuff appears) but it does seem a 'lot bigger' than I normally see when I run one but not sure about deleting from it. I've posted the file below if it's of any use. Any futher suggestions? Birdworld. 11. Dave, I've done that again as you said (I had done it once before by following similar threads in the FAQ section and used these removal tools) but my Norton keeps coming up with these showing as present. Any idea why that would be?
  12. Chaps, Having a bit of a 'mare here. To ammuse my kids I had downloaded a program which changes the cursor. Now that we are all bored with that I've deleted/uninstalled what I put on but now my Norton keeps telling me I have Dc369.exe NDNuninstall6_98, NDNuninstall7_14, NDNuninstall7_22 all Adware.NDotNet I've been over the FAQ's and downloaded some of the tools there where other people have had similar problems. I've also set up Spybot (which reveiled loads of interesting stuff!) but still have this stuff which refuses to die! Any clues would be a great help...
