Problems with Windows 2003 server ie6 and iis hang on start

We have been having problems with this server for a while - but they got worse just when we thought they would be getting better. We installed SP2 saturday, and since then we can't run ie6. w3wp.exe eats 100% of the cpu any time someone tries to access the web server (IIS). iexplorer also eats up cpu and doesn't ever start. It starts fine to a blank page - but won't go out to the web.

We ran spybot and found several viruses which we removed.
These files were found by symantec, and quarantined;

Adaware removed smitfraud-c.toolbar888

I can't run kapersky, bit defender or panda because they won't run in firefox....
