      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Google redirect virus

6 posts in this topic

Fortunately the redirect virus is only affecting IE, so I just use firefox instead. I have one more thing that is probably completely unrelated and that is that recently my media players (windows media player, realplayer, and winamp) have all had issues playing midi files. They keep boosting certain sounds in the midi files and tweaking the equalizer in winamp doesn't help.

Oh and one more thing. I have tried repeatedly to use the AVG spyware, but whenever I go to click manual update it says "Error: Failed to send receive data: 0"

I tried rebooting in safe mode anyway and continuing with the process, but it won't even let me open it in safe mode, my comp says something to the effect of "AVG 7.5 is not installed properly" or something like that.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi,

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.

The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt)

Note: if you have connection problems after running the fix, please do this:

Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Next:

Scan with HiJackThis and put a check in the box next to the following items;

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A9398C32-66C6-443B-B8CE-4FA73BDD2EB8}: NameServer = 85.255.116.83,85.255.112.127

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{BAFE130A-0595-4B0D-9041-06ED0369BD0A}: NameServer = 85.255.116.83,85.255.112.127

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.83 85.255.112.127

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.83 85.255.112.127

Close all browsers and windows, click on ‘fix selected’ and allow HJT to fix these entries.

Restart.

Scan again with HJT, (with all browsers and windows closed) and post the new log in this thread, along with the FixWareout report.

Those files you told me to fix in HJT did not show up in this scan so I couldn't fix them (this is after I ran fixwareout). Here are the reports anyway.

Thanks much for the help.

Edit: SUCCESS!!! As far as I can tell my Google redirect virus is gone! Thank you very much! I hope the rest of this is clean too.

Edit2: Even my midis are working properly again. Thank you so much. I think we can say this problem and thread is resolved.

Hi again,

Yes, your log looks clean, unless you have any more symptoms I'd say you were safe.
