      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

File Associations Gone

6 posts in this topic

New to this forum! Ever since I updated Zone Alarm my pc is screwy. I have scanned and rescanned, took out Zone Alarm though I still think there are remnants. Virtually all of my programs are inaccessible-I have figured out that I am able to manually run some through scheduled tasks. I cannot access regedt,msconfig,regedit32......Access is Denied!

I was unable to install AdAware, I have hijack log and I ran AVG scan. Here is my Hijack log:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

I am able to access regedit.exe through task manager. I see a ZoneAlarm folder is there. Is it safe to delete that from regedit? Last week I updated my java and wonder if I should delete the old ones through regedit? All my file associations are still gone and I cannot access Add/remove programs through control panel. Please help because I am scared I have a virus!!!

1. Download this file - combofix.exe

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Before your post last night, I reinstalled XP to just start over. Although I had done a repair install first which worked but all my files were still there under my old user name but not listed in add/remove programs and some of those programs actually worked. Weird!! Anyway, I reinstalled again so I guess all is well. Thanks for your response though.
