Hello all,

As per your forum rules, ran Spybot, Adaware, SpyHunter (my own idea), and saved the results from scans of AVG and HijackThis.

Still, that darn Spycrush tray icon is still there.

I checked wiki-security's list of dlls, KEYS, and stuff I should remove, but these were never present on my computer to start with....guess Spycrush evolved and changed names for those files.

What would you guys and gals want me to do to fix this?

Please read our Forum FAQ in order to find out what info we need (HijackThislog) so we can help you.

I guess this counts as an actual bump this time. Sorry if I'm ruffling a few feathers doing this, but my problem is still there. (Wow, you guys are swarmed, this post is already in the 4th page...) There will be no further bumps, though :)

My problem has evolved a bit. Spycrush tray icon still there, still flashes and pops-up, but now I discover that clicking on a Google search result redirects me - sometimes through a genuine "Jump" IE window! - to casino pages, alternative search engine page results, etc etc. My target adress needs to be manually inputed in the browser for me to reach most pages.

Mmm, far cry from life- and hardware-threatening, but oh-so annoying.

Ideas?

Hello,

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Optional - VIEWPOINT MANAGER
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.co...cle.php/3561546
Additional info: http://vil.nai.com/v...nt/v_137262.htm
I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
  • Viewpoint Toolbar
Your call.

=*=

Please download FixWareout from this site:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis may launch, close it.

Disable AVG Anti-Spyware (formerly ewido):
Please disable AVG Anti-Spyware, as it may interfere with the fix.
  • Open AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the multi-colored box emblazoned with an ‘S’ in the system tray.
  • In the Resident Shield section, toggle the AVG Anti-Spyware active protection ‘off’ by clicking Change state which will then change the protection status to 'inactive'.
  • If you are instructed to reboot at any time during your cleanup, AVG Anti-Spyware will prompt you as to whether you would like to Restart the Resident Shield.
  • Reply ‘no’ and set it to ‘inactive’ for the duration of your cleanup.
Once your log is clean you can re-enable Ewido.
  • Close all open Explorer windows and browsers
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click on the Scan button and when complete
  • Put a check beside all of the items listed below
  • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
  • When complete and all files removed, close the application.
Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

At the end of the fix, you need to restart your computer again.

For Windows 2K/XP
Note:

If you have problems with your internet connection after this fix, try this.
Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Enable AVG Anti-Spyware.

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract all the content (to a folder named SmitfraudFix) on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.
