I have been getting lots of pop up ad's lately after an unrecognised application "outer info" got installed on my computer. i didn't install it. As mentioned in the spywareinfo FAQ, i have installed Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot-Search and Destroy and Ewido anti-spyware(or AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5) I have run both Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot-Search and Destroy successfully. But when i try to run AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 in safe mode(as suggested in spywareinfo FAQ) i get a message saying " connection with server failed. reinstall AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5" It runs fine in normal mode. why am i getting this message and how can i remove this spyware if iam not even able to run anti spyware?

Please read our Forum FAQ in order to find out what info we need (HijackThislog) so we can help you.

Update: i think in forum FAQ its suggested to post the report from Ewido anti-spyware(or AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5) scan. I was wondering is it necessary to run AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 in safe mode only or can i run it in normal mode and post report from it. i will run HijackThis and post log soon.

The pop ups i am getting are random. like...

Hello,

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Open your Control Panel in *Add/Remove Programs* look for the following

Think-Adz Search Assistant
Enhanced Ads by Think-Adz
Surfsidekick
Oin
Yazzle by Oin
YazzleActiveX By OIN
Purityscan by Oin
Snowballwars by Oin
Cowabanga by OIN
(Anything) by OIN
Zolero
Tizzletalk
MediaTickets
Cowabanga
outerinfo

and any other programs you didn't install or don't recognize - if your not sure please ask first

If found, click on it and click remove.

Do not restart the computer

Then, download and run this OiUninstaller.exe uninstaller: follow the instructions on this page.
http://www.outerinfo.com/howto.html

Please set your system to show all files;
To delete the files/folders in the next steps, you may need to show hidden Files/Folders: How to.
At the end of the fix you can return the files to hidden status if you want..

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9D5A4F3E-8FAC-D459-DD0D-83ADAF9470B5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jeogj.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CA0E493D-DAA1-FD5A-8C7B-F8ADDB977392} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jtbqjqd.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Uaol] "C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\YSTEM~1\wuaclt.exe" -vt yazb
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yuexpi] "C:\Program Files\?dobe\n?tepad.exe"
O20 - Winlogon Notify: WgaLogon - C:\WINDOWS\

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Delete these files/folders in bold if found.

File
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jtbqjqd.dll

Folders
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\YSTEM~1\
C:\Program Files\?dobe\ <- probably listed as Adobe

Restart the computer to reset the registry.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: Posted Image
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    Posted Image
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply. You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report.
Include a fresh HijackThis log for review.

Let me know what problem persists.

Hi,

I couldn't delete "C:\Program Files\?dobe\ <- probably listed as Adobe" folder.
when i try to delete it, i get a message "can't delete apdboot.dll: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and the the file is currently not in use"

and there is no folder named "C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\YSTEM~1\" instead i have a file named
"C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\YAZZLE1552OINADMIN.0XE". i don't know if this is relevant, just thought i would mention it.
