      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

HijackThis log check

8 posts in this topic

hi guys,

i've been wanting to check if my laptop is as clean as it is.I got a Blue Screen Of Death quite a while ago from my laptop when i was running some software simultaneously. Was quite shocked initially but it didn't recur again after that "outbreak".

I run three antivirus/spyware program but Mcafee is the resident, always on program. the other 2 are just for backup. It's clean on all three software runs as much as i can tell.

I've also got another question to ask. Whenever i run Spybot Search & Destroy(great piece of software btw), it gives me these 2 entries:

1)Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.AntivirusDisableNotify

2)Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallDisableNotify

they always come up despite cleaning them. Any ideas as to what might be causing them?

this is my latest hijackthis logfile.

Hi,

I can't see anything suspicious here. Can you exactly tell me what the problem is?

By the way:

I run three antivirus/spyware program but Mcafee is the resident
Not sure here, but having more than one Antivirus is a bad idea even when the others are disabled. This because they are not compatible with eachother. So you should only have one Antivirus installed.

Or do you mean that you have 1 Antivirus and the rest are Antispyware? Because that's a difference and that's ok to have.

Concerning next:

I've also got another question to ask. Whenever i run Spybot Search & Destroy(great piece of software btw), it gives me these 2 entries:

1)Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.AntivirusDisableNotify

2)Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallDisableNotify

That's because of your McAfee. You may want to read this:

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=7707

So don't worry about this.

thanks for the response. i guess the BSOD is just the processor unable to handle the multiple activity i ran. heh.

well, i just wanted to check if the laptop really is as clean as it is.

if the hijackthis log is clean then i guess it is safe.

as for the antivirus/spyware, i have mcafee as my resident antivirus and ad-aware, spybot as anti spyware. so is that ok?

Yes, most possibly. Because McAfee in the background is already a huge resource hog. As far as I can see from your log, McAfee alone is already using 21 related processes. And if your computer doesn't have that much ram, or you put extra stress on the CPU by opening a lot of other "heavy" programs, then a BSOD or system shutdown may indeed occur.

You can improve some system performance here though - since I also see a lot of unnecessary programs starting up with Windows/running in the background.

So read this link: Help! My computer is slow!

Yes, your log looks clean :)
