      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Infected with adware/trojan

4 posts in this topic

I use Firefox but I am continually getting Internet Explorer pop ups when I use the Internet, usually for financial sites and search engines. Obviously, this is a pain, but I've noticed some times when I access sites it says the security ceritificate belongs to Secureconnection.com and that someone may be trying to intercept data.

Anyway, I've not installed any new programs for this to happen which I found unusual, it just seemed to happen one day I switched it on. I've run Adaware, Spybot, the online TrendMicro and Spysweeper which identify Win32Downloader and some minor adware. These files get quarantined and deleted by these programs but it doesn't clear the threat. The next time I run anything, it contains the usual suspects. I've always considered myself quite competent in removing spyware as it has happened before.

Enough rambling, here's my HijackLog:

Hi,

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%

(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.

  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).

Disable SpySweeper:

You have SpySweeper installed. While this is a great program, we need to temporarily disable (not uninstall) the program because it might stop our fix.

  • Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options>Uncheck "load at windows startup"
  • Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
  • Uncheck" home page shield".
  • Uncheck ''automatically restore default without notification".

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable SpySweeper again.

=*=

Please set your system to show all files;

To delete the files/folders in the next steps, you may need to show hidden Files/Folders: How to.

At the end of the fix you can return the files to hidden status if you want..

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [q96h36O] msnltui.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [bypnRWi7h] msbuid.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [{320D180E-05DA-1033-0803-04051720002c}] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\{320D180E-05DA-1033-0803-04051720002c}\Update.exe" mc-110-12-0000137

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [Qxocmh] C:\Program Files\Ibfmmwy\Dxfatg.exe (User 'SYSTEM')

O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchosts.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Delete these files/folders in bold if found.

Files

msnltui.exe

msbuid.exe

Folders

C:\Program Files\Common Files\{320D180E-05DA-1033-0803-04051720002c}\

C:\Program Files\Ibfmmwy\

Restart the computer to reset the registry.

Enable SpySweeper.

[*] Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log.
