      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

PLEASE READ - Reversing upgrade   02/23/2017

We have found that this new upgrade is somewhat of a disaster.  We are finding lots of glitches in being able to post and administer the forum.  Additionally, there are new costs associated with the upgrade that we simply cannot afford.  As a result, we have decided to reverse course and go back to the previous version of our software.  Since this will involve restoring it from a backup, we will lose posts that have been added since January 30 or possibly even some before that.    If you started a topic during that time, we urge you to make backups of your posts and you will need to start the topics over again after the change.  You can simply paste the copies of your posts that you created at that point.    If you joined the forum this month, you will need to re-register since your membership will be lost along with the posts.  Since you have a concealed password, we cannot simply restore your membership for you.   We are going to backup as much as we can so that it will reduce inconvenience for our members.  Unfortunately we cannot back everything up since much will be incompatible with the old version of our software.  We apologize for the confusion and regret the need to do this even though it is not viable to continue with this version of the software.   We plan to begin the process tomorrow evening and, if it goes smoothly, we shouldn't be offline for very long.  However, since we have not done this before, we are not sure how smoothly it will go.  We ask your patience as we proceed.   EDIT: I have asked our hosting service to do the restore at 9 PM Central time and it looks like it will go forward at that time.  Please prepare whatever you need to prepare so that we can restore your topics when the forum is stable again.

HELP! No software has detected my problem

4 posts in this topic

As the title states, I have run Spybot and other adware/spyware detection programs and they have not found the culprit. Also, spybot has found one thing that it can't fix, but when I search for it on my hard drive, I cannot find it.

Please help, it is bogging down my PC.

Thanks

Here's my log:

We need to remove a program called “Twain-Tec”. To do this, first you need to disable System restore as per the instructions here. Twiantec.dll is a transponder. HijackThis will detect it as a BHO but it must not be removed using HijackThis. This is because of the remaining registry entries and files which can be dangerous. Instead the following method of removal is preferable and complete: Go to "Add/Remove Programs" and Uninstall Twain-Tech

Close all programs and windows.

Run HijackThis and delete the following:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {000020DD-C72E-4113-AF77-DD56626C6C42} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {447160CD-ECF5-4EA2-8A8A-1F70CA363F85} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msibkd.dll

O3 - Toolbar: zSearch Bar - {5886A6DC-AAF4-45E9-979A-8E5E6DEE30E7} - C:\Program Files\zSearch\zSearch.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [system Service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\msrexe.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Internet Explorer] C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEXPLORE.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cjefetwf] C:\WINDOWS\cjefetwf.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EXECR] C:\WINDOWS\System32\EXECR.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [FSADUE] C:\WINDOWS\System32\FSADUE.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sysUpd] C:\WINDOWS\sysupd.exe

The following are optional to delete as they are resource hogs:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

Please reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?

Please cleanup temporary files etc. Browse to and select all contents in the following folders (Windows may be WINNT or WIN98 etc.), and delete (Make sure to delete the sub-folders, but not the Temp folders themselves!):

  • C:\Windows\Temp (all contents)
  • C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files (all contents) <=This will delete all your cached internet content including cookies. This is recommended and strongly suggested.
  • C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp (all contents)
  • C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files [/color](all contents)
  • C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp (all contents)
  • Empty your "Recycle Bin".
  • twaintech.dll <= You will have to search for this file - Likely in c:\windows\system32. If twaintech.dll is in use, then you would need to rename it, reboot the computer, and then delete it.
  • twaintec.ini <= You will have to search for this file - Likely in c:\windows\system32.
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\msrexe.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEXPLORE.EXE
  • C:\WINDOWS\cjefetwf.exe
  • C:\Program Files\TV Media <= Delete this directory
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\EXECR.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\FSADUE.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\sysupd.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\INGERF.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\psp1hfmx.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\OBSYNCM.exe
  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\msgked.exe

Reboot again and log in normally, repost a new HijackThis log into this message for further review.
