My friend was telling me how her computer kept getting pop ups, and it was slowing her PC down, so she gave me it to clean, which I thought wold be simple enough, by just using the right programs.

How wrong I was.

i've never seen such a badly infected computer.

Her CD drive doesnt work.....i manage to get it out using the un jam hole, and clicking the button takes it back in automatically, but it doesnt come out. It also doesnt recognise a CD being in the drive. Iv heard Spyware can cuase this..is this tru or is more likely to be a Hardware fualt?

It doesnt allow me to download any protection it says "your security settings dont allow this"

So i'v been dowloading them on my pc, and trasnferring them over via USB which has worked fine.

They isntall okay, but half way through their scan they all "encounter a problem and needs to close"

I guess this is down to the spyware/malware.

Typing an address into the address bar causes it to redirect also.

Im hitting a brick wall here, see as none of the removers will complete a search or remove the spyware.

Do you have any ideas / alternatives?

Thanks very much in advance

Nick

Hi,

A number of infections was found on the log.

Lets start here.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.
Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri).
Extract all the content to a folder named SmitfraudFix on your Desktop.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.

Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Then restart the computer normally. Post the contents of the SmitfraudFix log located at C:\rapport.txt into this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.
