      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

hijacked - can't remove

9 posts in this topic

Ok, they finally got me. When I open IE it takes me to the IE search page. From there if I try to go to a website it starts rapidly opening windows saying spyware detected! and the like. One window shows the following url: //czdcond8t.biz/popup6.php?pin=13

I have run AdAware and SpyBot several times. Spybot finds a program (file?) it calls DSOExploit. I 'fix it' but when i restart IE it just comes right back doing the same rapid window opening until I get a message saying I'll need to close a window before I can open any more.

I then ran hijack this and generated a log which I have saved. Now I'm stuck. I hope somebody can help. And I hope I can figure out how to access the help provided. I did enable email (I think) as was suggested in the FAQ. I'm not a novice but it's pretty intimidating. I sort of surprised I've gotten this far. Thanks.

Hi rhnj22

Go here for Hijack This

Unzip, update and scan. The scan button will turn into a save log button. Save it,copy and paste it back into this thread. Don't fix anything yet because most of it is needed.Make sure you place HJT into a folder of it’s own. You may need to restore an item and you will not be able to from a temp. dir

OK. Really appreciate you answering. I couldn't get to my computer yesterday. This thing also took my Notepad with it. I saved the log in my word processor. Hope you can get rid of this for me.

Hi

First you need to place HiJack This into a folder of it’s own.

Go into your documents and make a new folder and name it HJT or something you like. Then unzip HJT into your new folder. If you ever need to restore an item you may not have that option, or be able to find them from a temp dir.

Download the latest version of Ad-Aware, and check to make sure you have the most recent updates.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Download and install APM from: (don't run it yet we will get to that in a minute)

http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=apm

Now close all browsers and rerun HJT. Check and click fix checked for the following-

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {77A4BAB5-E03B-4D2B-9FF2-07B9248B84CB} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AHO.DLL

Then start APM.

In the upper window select explorer.exe

In the lower window find and rightclick the O2 - BHO: entry from above.

Select Unload DLL and click OK on the prompts that follow.

Reboot and scan with AdAware to remove the txt and html protocol association.

Then reboot and run another hijackthis scan and post your new log here.

Hi OlTramp

OK, I've followed your instructions up to a point (where I may have screwed up). I moved HJT from my desktop to a folder (HJT). I downloaded and updated AdAware to build 6.181 dated yesterday 6/27/04. I then ran AdAware before realizing that you didn't actually say to run it until toward the end of the process. Hope that didn't hurt anything. That time it found 21 'objects' which I removed. Downloaded APM, closed browser, ran HJT and 'fixed' the 10 items you listed. Ran APM but neglected to select explorer.exe and the O@-BHO and Unload DLL per your instructions. (Must have gotten overanxious or something.) Rebooted and ran Adaware which found 3 'objects' and fixed them. Tried to rerun APM but now I get an error message that it finds and unknown fault and closes. (Hope I haven't damaged anything.) Problem with the spyware seems to be corrected. Rebooted and ran HJT which produced this log:

Hi

Empty your temp files-

Windows 98/ME/2000/XP

Click Start, point to Programs (or All Programs).

Choose Accessories, then System Tools.

Choose Disk Cleanup

Select the drive that you wish to clean up.

Select what you would like to clean up

Empty your recycle and then go back to adaware. Download the latest update and run it again. Reboot and post a new log. So far you look OK to me.

Glad to hear you think I'm ok. I ran disk cleanup (ME on this machine). Then ran AdAware which found 2 tracking cookies which I deleted. Then ran HJT and produced this log:

LimeShop. Definitely. A holdover from a long time ago I guess. Anyway, it's gone. You make this seem so easy. Anything else before I try to get a wireless network up and running?
