      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Computer Running Extremely Slow

13 posts in this topic

Hello,

About a month ago I used this site to resolve a major spyware issue (thanks again!). Unfortunately, the same laptop has another problem. Over the last few days, everything has slowed down considerably. It will take roughly 2-3 minutes to open Firefox and load a homepage. I click on my Bookmarks, and it will take 30 seconds to load the drop-down list of links. Streaming audio or video is impossible, as it will play a frame of audio/video and then pause only to keep repeating the start/stop. Outside of the browser, I click the start button to go to programs, and each individual opening takes roughly 20-30 seconds. I have no idea what is causing this, but my computer is basically useless right now.

I hope this description is sufficient and it's something that could be worked on. Thank you very much.

    move.gif
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply. You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report.

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Let me know what problem persists.

Print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

Nice work, your log is clean of malware.

I suggest you remove these empty items.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)

O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.net - {F4430FE8-2638-42e5-B849-800749B94EED} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming.Net\PartyPokerNet\RunPF.exe (file missing)

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.net - {F4430FE8-2638-42e5-B849-800749B94EED} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming.Net\PartyPokerNet\RunPF.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Restart the computer normally to reset the registry.

Please read this Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.

Hi, I removed the above entries as you suggested. While my computer is running quicker than it did before this latest issue popped up, it's still not as quick as it used to be. Also, I'm still having trouble with streaming video...I used to use MLB.tv to watch my out-of-market baseball team nightly, and the video is still very choppy and does not catch up to the audio. I also can't watch videos of my niece on dropshots.com :). Is there anything I can do, or is there another type of scan that could be done? Thanks again!

Let see if I can find some bad programs/registry items.

Download Combofix to your desktop.

Doubleclick combofix.exe

Follow the prompts.

Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.

Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

About a week later and my laptop is dragging once again and I don't know why. I'm guessing this just may not be a malware issue...but of course I don't have the expertise to know what else could be causing it or what could be done. Is there another type of scan that could be run, or could you point me towards some additional resource material besides what was linked above? Thank you.

Let me see this result.
