      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

I have read everything, used Ad-Aware, and, Spyot, and CWShredder. I have run NAV and Hijackthis.

I also lost some functionality of my copy/paste? Luckily it worked just now for my log!

I have lost all ability to drag and drop. Cut and paste is not working properly. I can't move or copy any files to other directories. And I still can't get the automatic links to work? Just what is this thing capable of?

Here is my latest hijack this:

First, check your copies of notepad.exe in Windows folder and system32 folder to be legit.

RightClick them and inspect the properties.

If any copy is corrupted/hijacked, replace with good

copy from \System32\Dllcache

folder.

Next,

Download and install : "FINDnFIX.exe" from any of

the links in my signature.

Run the "!LOG!.bat" file, wait for the final output (log.txt)

post the results....

Thanks for getting to me. I've read other posts and have gotten all the way to the restore.bat part. I'm guessing the D3DEB.DLL is the culprit.

First, a little warning!

Looks like you followed something on your own!

The package makes certain backups of your current settings, and your windows key is already messed up!

There was no need to run the log1 text as that restores

the bad backup.

At this point we can just 'kill' the problem, but your

Security settings on Windows key will remain as is.

Just so you'd understand your mistake: (by copying/moving the *wrong file...)

I've read other posts and have gotten all the

way to the restore.bat part. I'm guessing the D3DEB.DLL is the culprit

...................................................

log1.txt:

%WinDir%\System32\CTLG.DLL %SystemDrive%\junkxxx\CTLG.DLL  :scratchhead:

Follow the next set of steps carefully and don't try to alter on your own:

================================================

-Open the FINDnFIX\Keys1 Subfolder!

- Locate the "MOVEit.bat" file,Right-Click on it,select->edit:

The file will open as text file.

-Copy and paste the entire hilited line in the following quote box

(all one line) into the 'MOVEit' file, replacing it's contents:

move %WinDir%\System32\D3DEB.DLL %SystemDrive%\junkxxx\D3DEB.DLL

Be sure to Replace the text in the file with the command above!

-Save the file and close.

*Get ready to restart your computer:

-In the same folder, DoubleClick on the "FIX.bat" file.

You will be prompted by popup -Alert to restart in 15 seconds.

-Allow it to restart the computer!

-On restart, Navigate to:

C:\FINDnFIX\ main folder:

-DoubleClick on the "RESTORE.bat" file.

It'll run and produce new log. (log1.txt) post it here!

===========================================

*Note:

Some *crippled version(s) of XP would not let you edit .bat files!

In that case, skip this step and use these alternate steps, instead:

------------------------------------------------------------

*Get ready to restart:

- DoubleClick on the "FIX.bat" file in the 'FINDnFIX' folder.

-Wait for the popup -Alert to restart your computer in 15 seconds.

On restart, navigate to System32 folder:

-Locate and select the "D3DEB.DLL" file (as it will be visible)

And use the folder's top menu>edit>

move to folder...

Select the C:\junkxxx as destination and move

the 'D3DEB.DLL' there.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Run the "RESTORE.bat", file , wait for

and post the 'log1.txt' file!

If the first set of steps (MOVEit/edit/paste/save, etc) was successful, there is no need to follow the alternate steps above!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately my cut and paste function is not working and the last time I ran the above, I typed it in incorrectly. I will try it again.

Well done! The backup worked well after all ;)

Great progress! :thumbsup:

Last step(s):

-Open the FINDnFIX\Files2< Subfolder:

Run the -> "ZIPZAP.bat" file.

It will quickly clean the rest and

will make a copy of the bad file(s) in the same

folder (junkxxx.zip) and open your email client with instructions:

Simply drag and drop the 'junkxxx.zip' file from

the folder into the mail message and submit

to the specified addresses! Thanks!

When done, restart your computer and

Delete and entire 'FINDnFIX' file+folder(s)

From C:\, and be sure the C:\junkxxx folder

was deleted (as part of the cleanup process)

As for the remains, run any and all

removal tools once again as they should work properly now!

In particular,

CWShredder.exe and fully updated Ad-Aware!

Feel free to post follow up hijackthis log when done! :cool:

I couldn't email the zip file because Outlook express wouldn't open due to MSOE.DLL not getting initialized.

How do I get my drag and drop, cut/pase, auto link back. Also, I can't get my open programs to display on the task bar. I know these sound trivial, but they all starting having issues as soon as CWS showed up.

BTW. Everthing looks good so far. Thank you sooooooo much for the help. Here is HJT log: (for some odd reason, I can cut and paste this but nothing else???)

As for all other issues, that particular trojan was loaded with every system process or event and may have contributed to your issues.

Or it may be related to software/hardware conflicts.

You need to tshoot this in various ways, restarting in Safe mode and checking whether it makes a difference, or disabling your startups in msconfig, or checking

different startup options.

scannow did a great job repairing my register. I had to re-install a couple of drivers, but no big deal.

Thank you for all your help. If not for this forum, I would still be floundering around on the verge of total restore. Thanks again.
