      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Trojan and PopUps Problems

12 posts in this topic

Hi, I turned my computer on this morning, and found three small pop-ups on my screen telling me I have this Trojan w 32 looksky. They just keep coming in and everytime I click the exit button, I get directed to kind of sites such as ucleaner.com, udefender.com, scanner.spy-shredder.com, and the like.

I got this kind of warning:

"Windows has detected an Internet attack attempt… Somebody’s trying to infect your PC with spyware or harmful viruses. Run full system scan now to protect your PC from Internet attacks, hijacking attempts and spyware! Click here to download spyware remover for total protection."

"System detected virus activities. These may impact the performance of your computer. Please use recommended antispyware software to protect your system from parasite programs."

"Security Warning!

Trojan.W32.Looksky detected on your machine. This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and Active-X objects. The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers e-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself. In worst cases this worm can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data.

This process should be removed from your system.

Type : Virus

System Affected : Windows 2000, NT, ME, XP, Vista

Security Risk (0-5) : 5

Recommendation : Click Yes to remove it from your PC immediately"

And I also got a new wallpaper on my screen showing: "Privacy In Danger!"

Please, help me.

here is my hijack log:

Hello,

* Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

* Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%

(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)

°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.

Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Hi thank you very much.. However, I am now experiencing a problem with my internet connection at home (I am now at my mate's house). What should I do?

Is the internet connection issue because of your ISP... or because there's a problem with your computer?

Anyway, download SDFix via your friends computer, put in on cd, flashdrive whatever and transfer it to your computer.

Hi,

Just some minor leftovers to deal with...

* Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab

Select "Privacy Protection" you find in there and press the delete button on the right.

Hit ok below > apply in previous window.

Then,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

R3 - URLSearchHook: &Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {47C54F02-1B28-45F1-AE46-B5CDFB6E7926} - C:\WINDOWS\duocore.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F0422D70-E9CF-AE34-66D7-5949901EF70F} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE

O21 - SSODL: wmpenv - {24853434-368D-44D8-9C4E-512499646184} - (no file)

O21 - SSODL: wmpconf - {5C2E029A-AF26-4AC3-AF92-BB349EC428D3} - (no file)

O24 - Desktop Component 0: Privacy Protection - file:///C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger\index.htm <== this entry should already be gone now.

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Navigate to and delete the C:\SDFix - folder
