I first posted heres the link
http://www.spywarein...indpost&p=32423

While i did't get an expert to help, i followed other topics and thought that i had fixed me own problems. How nieve is that?
It's come back and bit me in the#**! ouch !
running windows xp home edition

ran cwshredder and fixed adaware and fixed HJT and fixed all to no avail. (all latest versions) Its a bit like "Groundhog Day"

Current symtoms
slow PC
homepage reset to "about blank"
notepad broke (managed to fix with install new copy)
spyware blaster broke and uninstalled.Re install gives the same error.
IE: errors out if i go to trend micro and try to run !Housecall
norton antivirus takes forever to load after reboot.

So i need a little help to fix, which would be much appreciated. I know you guys are all busy but if someone could look at my HJT log it would really help a lot.

Can i just please say please dont post unless you can help ,it just confuses me,and the experts here think someone else is dealing with the problem.
thanks
nigel

Starting more than one topic just wastes our time as we have to merge or otherwise deal with the same problem in two places. I have closed your other thread which was still open and just got a reply.

Hi Nigel :)

EDIT - You have probably recieved email notification of my reply at CC, which is a duplicate of this one. Note that I have edited both, in case you have already read them.

Try running [spHJTfix.exe], which may help remove the hijack. Please post a fresh HJT log after using it. Also check this [post], which has information regarding CWS.SearchX.

It appears that you have two Firewalls running, which is not recommended. If you wish to use just the one Firewall and would rather be running the Norton/Symantec Firewall as opposed to Sygate, proceed as follows (this is only a recommendation, thus is at your own discretion)...

The startup entry in the registry can be fixed with HijackThis. To stop the service, goto...
Start > Run > type services.msc and locate Sygate. Right click its entry and select Properties. Now select Stop and also switch the startup type to Manual.

Regards :)

:D
hello my friend
Np following your instructions. Please see new HJT log below it looks like a long lost friend. :D :D :D
Not worried about the R3 thats been there forever and doesnt cause any issues.
I thought i had set my norton firewall to manual as i want to try out sygate (after reading about it in many threads) so followed your instructions but for norton instead of sygate.Think that worked ok.
let me know how you think it looks :D :D

Hi Nigel :)

To prevent the R3 from reappearing after each fix, download [Registrar Lite] to its own directory.

Please backup your registry BEFORE making any changes by exporting the relevant category as stated below (by right clicking it and selecting export).

Copy and paste the following text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks
And this entry in the right-hand pane will need deleting...
{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_
(Notice the underscore at the end. Also delete any other entries that have an underscore at the end)

To be sure that this and CWS.SearchX have gone, please reboot and post back a fresh log.

Regards :bounce:
