      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

My Own Hijackthis log problems

9 posts in this topic

I cant seem to find the source of this problem. ive tried running adaware and spybot along with cwshredder. the problem is is that spybot picks up the same files everytime my computer is on for a few hours. The same files keep comming up in my results in spybot. I am not finding the source that seems to the problem. I cannot figure out what file is the source to the problem of the reappearing spyware.

Thank you for your time

Hi,

New Log File after re-running Adaware again.

But you didn't reboot after running Ad-Aware! (see below)

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Ad-aware] "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6\Ad-aware.exe" "+b1"

Anyway ... your system has been severly compromised!

First question: do you have the Firewall enabled? If not enable now!

http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/firewall.asp

2nd question: did you install "srvany.exe" (see below)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\srvany.exe

C:\WINDOWS\system32\resetservice.exe

Process File: srvany or srvany.exe

Description: Application that is associated with Microsoft Windows NT 4, 2000, and XP Resource Kits and is used to run normal Windows applications as services.

Note: do not delete either file, just reply (Y\N)

42 infected files. 1 i was unable to delete : worm spybot.br

Is your NAV updated and working? (it should have caught some of this!)

Let's see if we can clean this thing up ...

scrgrd.exe = WORM_SPYBOT.BR :alarm: pidserv.exe = WORM_SPYBOT.PI :alarm:

Note: make sure to follow the instructions in the article relating to the Registry!

First thing to do is ...

Reconfigure Windows Explorer to show Hidden Files:

Open the Windows Explorer Folder Options - View [tab]:

Scroll down to the "Files and Folders" section.

Select: "Display the contents of system folders".

Scroll down to the "Hidden Files and Folders" section.

Select: "Show hidden files and folders", Ok the prompt

Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"

Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files" Ok the Prompt, click Apply

Click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Close Windows Explorer.

Next:

Close all open windows, except for HijackThis place a check in each of the following:

Then click "Fix checked".

Your Answer To question 1 And 2 :

1)I do not have the firewall enabled because it creates conflicts within my network. I have a router. Basically when enabled it causes me to have severe problems with downloads and uploads.

2) resetservice i did install but the srvany.exe i do not think i installed unless it is bundled with resetservice(which it could be).

NAV is set up and up to date and working. It picked up that file also but couldnt delete or quarantine it. but it didnt pick up the other 41.

Hi,

Your log is clean now ... good job!

Last Step:

Start | Run (type) cleanmgr

Select the following:

1) Temporary Internet Files

2) Recycle Bin

3) Temporary Files

When completed ... "Flush System Restore" (see "How To" below)

Basically turn off System Restore, reboot, run a full (updated) NAV scan, reboot and turn System Restore back on and create a new Restore Point.

How To: Configure Norton AntiVirus to scan all files

I would suggest adding some "Defense" to your system ...

How To: Prevent this from happening again?
