      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

CWS.searchx keeps coming back

2 posts in this topic

Last week my browser was hijacked and my start page was reset to about:blank and showed a bogus search engine and lots of "you have spyware" popups.

yesterday:

Ad-aware found nothing. In my search for answers I found CWShredder, downloaded it, and it found and removed CWS.searchx on my computer.

I updated Ad-aware and ran it, and it found a few new objects. All but one could be deleted. The one that could not be deleted was named ebhi.dll. I renamed it xxx.dll, re-booted and succussfully deleted it.

Today:

I thought my problems were over. This afternoon I received a "you have spyware" pop-up on my desktop - I had not opened my browser. When I did open the browser, I was back to about:blank, with the search engine and pop-ups again.

I read the http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/#removal page, and had the following results:

step 1 - run hijackthis and fix search page settings, etc - ok

step 2 - get internet options back in control panel - n/a internet options still works (until I close and re-open IE to find my start page changed again)

step 3 - get rid of .hta & .js files with url's and all .tmp files - ok

step 4 check BHO's - not done, could not search list of known BHO's and did'nt want to delete anything necessary.

step 5 - check for startup entry - not done, could not search list of known entries and did'nt want to delete anything necessary.

I then ran adaware again, found one file that could not be deleted (mcmkehb.dll). Again I re-named it, re-booted, and deleted it. I ram CWShredder again and it found nothing to fix.

Following is my HijackThis log which was run after the above. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from coming back tomorrow? Thanks.

Problem update -

I downloaded a newer version of Ad-aware which seems to find more of the CWS files. Now the start page changes to about:blank overnight instead of several times per day. Following is a new hijackThis log, ran after ad-aware. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to permanantly stop this. Thanks.
