I am pretty good about getting rid of spyware, and am usually very careful about the sites that I go to, and try to be really careful with that sort of stuff.

This one i have is a doosie though. It creates a .dll (of random name as far as i can tell) and that DLL runs in IE, and loads a search-engine type webpage, when my default homepage is about:blank (it says it's at about:blank, but loads this search-engine webpage). When my internet connection went down, it still loaded the page, but no popups.

Normally what happens is, any time i load any IE up, whether it's hwen i sign on AOL Instant Messanger, I start the game City of Heroes, or just open up a regular IE window, 2 or 3 popups come telling me my comp is infected with spyware.

Thusfar, I have been able to remove it 2 ways: 1) rename the file, 2) remove the file.

Every time i do this it seems, a few hours later another one comes back, and I have this fecurring problem.

Another thing i noticed is that all of the time, in my quicklaunch menu, a file will be created called backup-192309139123-12301293012930921.dll or some long string of numbers like that, and after like a day sometimes ther are 5 or 6 of them.

I ran the program called Hijack-This (http://hijackthis.net), and it does a nice IE scan that tells me that it's running this BHO, but it can never remove it. Any help on how I can fix this spyware program is welcome! Please give any feedback you can, I've tried to explain the problem as accurately as I can.

Thanks!

bump.

I appologize for repeated bumping, but this problem is really irking me, and has been for about a month now. I still can't figure out what's causing it. I've tried seemingly everything....

Every few hours or so, a dfkjsdlfkdjs.dll is created (random letters usually 5-10) and causes this problem. I rename the DLL and then i don't get anything but popups (no page loads), and i have a google popup blocker which takes care of that.

Any help at all would be so much appreciated... I've been at this forever adn still can't fix it.

here is the page it always loadsup

coincidently though, when my internet was off one time, this page still loaded up, but no popups (guess that's over the internet)

http://oz.msie.tv/

also, sometimes it's just a blue screen with this "uninstall thing", i even tried that, and it only deleted the .dll file that i always rename (i think), becuase i was like "oh damn" and then it started screwing up again.

it usually loads up this search engine page with like 4000 links and no graphics.

here is a log file of just now (i renamed the problem-causing .dll, which will come back in the form of another one in a few hours).
