      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Hi,

Download: WinpupFinder

http://www10.brinkster.com/expl0iter/freea...unk/winpups.htm

Unzip and double-click: "WinpupFinder.bat"

When completed, it will open Notepad with a filelist.

Generates: Winpups.txt, paste the contents in your next post.

Note: also make sure to post a complete log, as some of the entries in your 2nd post in "Running Processes" are missing? (see your first post)

Hi,

Your log looks clean now ... good job!

Now let's deal with WinPup ...

Disconnect your computer from the Internet.

Open Notepad and save the below as: "RemoveWinPup.reg"

In the "Save as type" drop-down section, select: All Files

Right-click the file and select: Merge and Ok the prompt.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\pup]

Now do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete in order to bring up Task Manager

Click on the "Processes" tab, end task on the following:

C:\WINDOWS\ACTULICE.EXE (if running)

Note: you may need to repeat the "End Task", watch for a change in the filename,

it should be mentioned in "Winpups.txt", if it changes "End Task".

Enable Hidden Files (see below)

Locate and delete all files mentioned in Winpups.txt

Reboot and run "WinpupFinder.bat" again, if it comes up clean then you are good to go, if not repeat the above steps.

Still no luck. Winpup.bat comes up dry, and in the process tab there is not actulice.exe running.

And yet, when I close IE, the pop ups still come up.

Hi,

Did you delete: C:\WINDOWS\ACTULICE.EXE

If WinpupFinder comes up dry then you have removed that trojan, however you may still have others ...

Open Regedit and see if the following exists?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\pup]

Download VX2Finder

http://tools.zerosrealm.com/VX2Finder.exe

Run Vx2Finder click on the "Click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button.

Then click Make log. Generates: "vx2.log"

Copy and paste the contents of the log into your next reply.

Ok, that's good!

When you see these pop-ups, right-click the page and select: Properties

Look at the "URL" = who\what\where

Hint: copy and paste the URL contents, do this several times, then post that info back with a fresh log.

Sorry this took so long, I was waiting for some ads to pop up, but none did.

Yes, I did remove C:\WINDOWS\ACTULICE.EXE,

No, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\pup]

Doesn't exists.

It looks like the spyware is gone, because this long span of time, not one has poped up!

Thanks for helping!
