Hello elsweenith,

First, click Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and find:

"Window Search" And "WinTools" and remove (uninstall) them.
You will be given a security code to insert, do so
And reboot when done.
_____

Next, please take a free Online Virus scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com
_____

Then, please download Spybot: Search and Destroy from http://www.safer-net...g.org/index.php
Check for Updates first, download ALL Updates and Do a Scan.
When finished, make sure ALL RED items have been ticked, and click the "Fix Selected Problems" Button.

I'd Also Recommend you Download AdAware, Another good Antispyware Program From http://www.lavasoftu...pport/download/.
Install The Program and Run it. Make Sure You Click the "Check for Updates" Button before starting a scan.
Do a scan with AdAware and Remove Everything it suggests.
_____

Then, you don't have HJT in a Permanent folder.
Click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.
This will allow backups to be made and saved By hijackthis in case something goes wrong
Follow this link http://www.netstar.me.uk/hjt/hjt.html if you need help.

Open Hijackthis, click Scan, then put a check next to the following entries:
(some entries will not be here after doing the above)

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=99

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapp...://my.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=99

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...e.aspx?tb_id=99

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll

F0 - system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd32.exe
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd32.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972} - C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\toolbar.dll

O3 - Toolbar: &Search Toolbar - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\toolbar.dll
O3 - Toolbar: DashBar Toolbar - {CC90CDA0-74A0-45b4-80EF-D89CA8C249B8} - C:\Program Files\DashBar\DashBar17.dll

(If you don't use Wild Tangent, I suggest removing these 2 entries)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wcmdmgr] C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WT GameChannel] C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\GameChannel.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe

Then, Close all open Windows and Browsers (have only HJT open) and click "Fix Checked".

Then, Reboot to Safe Mode (tap F8 while restarting) and delete these Folders:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\CMEII\
C:\Program Files\Hotbar\
C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\
C:\Program Files\DashBar\
C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\
C:\Program Files\WildTangent\ <----if you want to remove Wild Tangent

And this File:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd32.exe

You may have to show hidden files:

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

After that, please reboot normally and post a new HJT log.

Hi elsweenith,

You're welcome. Just this one to fix.

Open Hijackthis, click Scan, then put a check next to the following entry:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com

Then, Close all open Windows and Browsers (have only HJT open) and click "Fix Checked".

Let us know if you have any problems.

Here is some free protection you should consider:
Download and install:

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies.
IESPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Check for updates occaisionally.

And also see So how did I get infected in the first place?
