      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

about:blank, CWS.Searchx, pop ups,general slowdown

5 posts in this topic

Okay, I've got more problems than I can count. Serious slowdown (Sometimes. Random as far as I can tell) using IE. Usually ends with me hitting the End Now button. Pop ups, when surfing specific sites. Usually well known. For instance, google, hotmail, etc. The pop ups inform me I may have spyware (No duh) and ask me if I'd like to fix it. They also list my OS, IP address, and a few other tricks like that. There's also a lovely pop up involving green cartoon bugs engaging in sexual activity. Home page is reset to about:blank. If I fix the R1 entries in HJT, it comes back after sometime (Usually after I experiance slowdown, as described above, or after restart). CWShredder removes CWS.Searchx, but it always manages to come back (I've removed it countless times using CWShredder).

I've been using Ad-Aware, Spybot, CWShredder, and HJT (All updated, of course). No luck so far. I've managed to remove many problems on my own (I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to computers), but this is beyond me.

On another note, I get this odd error message when starting up, shutting down, restarting, going in to stand by, or the screen saver turning on. The message has a header of "OPXPApp.exe - Application error" the details are "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click OK to terminate the application." That error has been around for a *long* time. I believe it started around the same time my problems did.

I've tried one thing after another, fixed various other problems, but now I'm stumped. Here's my HJT log:

Okay, I got FindnFix, ran said file, and I'm not exactly sure if it worked. It gave me no signs of being complete, even after running for several hours. I eventually closed the program. I found three txt files. 'win.txt' 'list.txt' and 'file.txt' I've never used this program before, so I don't know which one to post, or if I was supposed to let the program continue (I just presumed it was done, it had been 4 hours or so...)

So, which file should I post? Or should I try running the program again?

Forgive my ignorance, I just don't want to post the wrong thing.

If you run the LOG!.bat file (NOTHING ELSE), when it is done, a file will open in notepad, it is that file that I need.

well, I ran !LOG!.BAT... for six hours. Nothing happens. It's a blue screen, with "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ (Some space) COLBACT.DLL" at the bottom.

It just sits there, using 100% of my resources. I've reinstalled it, restarted, tried downloading the extractor again, and reinstalling, but nothing seems to get it past that screen... I have no idea what I'm doing wrong :(
