I was reading a string that has since been closed with some suggesting the tvdebug.log file may have come from Zone Alarm's free version.

Has this been confirmed?

I had a virus/spyware attack on my pc that rendered it useless if left unattended for a few minutes (memory would get overridden making it impossible to open applications ... ads all over the screen).

I formatted my hard drive, got everything back up and running, downloaded Zone Alarm and the next day I'm having hard drive failure.

Is this common? Is the hard drive dust or is the tvdebug file to blame?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Coincidence would seem to be the most likely explanation!
Reformatting, and then reinstalling all yorur programs could well have been the last straw for a drive that was on it's last legs.
Be wary of strong drink. It may make you shoot at tax collectors, and miss!
