      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

I don't know where I picked this up. It's been on my system for 2 or 3 months. Norton Antivirus identified it but couldn't remove it. I don't know if it's having any evil effects, but I am having more system problems than before.

I'm too scared to venture into Registry.

I am absolutely not a techie.

Please help if you can.

Hi,

First thing to do is ...

Uninstall via Add Remove: SpyKiller (it's bogus!)

Next:

Reconfigure Windows Explorer to show Hidden Files: [required step]

Open the Windows Explorer Folder Options - View [tab]:

Scroll down to the "Files and Folders" section.

Select: "Display the contents of system folders".

Scroll down to the "Hidden Files and Folders" section.

Select: "Show hidden files and folders", Ok the prompt

Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"

Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files" Ok the Prompt, click Apply

Click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Close Windows Explorer.

Next:

Close all open windows, except for HijackThis place a check in each of the following:

Then click "Fix checked".

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [FastDownloads] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSA64CHK.dll,DllMostrar Matrix_HTML:FastDownloads:t

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [spyKiller] C:\Program Files\SpyKiller\spykiller.exe /startup

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Works Calendar Reminders.lnk = ?

O4 - Global Startup: BTTray.lnk = ?

O9 - Extra button: FastDownloads (HKLM)

O16 - DPF: {88C51E90-8E9C-4C96-8A45-574D88B63FAF} (Matrix Class) - http://acceso.masminutos.com/aplicacion.cab

Then reboot, on restart, restart in Safe Mode [required step - see "How To" below]

Start | Run (type) "%temp%" (no quotes)

Completely delete the entire contents of that "temp" folder.

Open Windows Explorer locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSA64CHK.dll <--this file

C:\Program Files\SpyKiller <--this folder

After the above, reboot, and update HijackThis

Download icon11.gifHijackThis! 1.98

Then rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log ...

OK all done. Couldn't find anything to do with SpyKiller though, nor could the Search function. I did get rid of SpyBot instead, just in case, and will re-download it later if need be.

The shortcut to the problem file on my desktop has stayed deleted, and the HiJack This file has filled with back-ups, so it looks like your advice has worked. Thanks very much.
