I have tried often now to get rid of cws.searchX that is reeking havoc to my win xp-home machine.

I have read many posts, and I have followed the info on the removal steps, but to no avail, It keeps returning.

have followed these steps:
1. CWShredder found CWS.SearchX and removed it
2. Used panda software to scan for viruses
3. Used ad-aware with the propper settings to remove adware
4. Used S&D software to scan
5. Used Trojan Hunter to scan as well.

I've tried these steps before, (and then rebooted,) then my browser was hijacked, and I was getting pop-ups.
I tried the steps listed above, and have not yet rebooted since . I'm including a copy of my Hijack-this log.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7

Do I need to be in safe mode to run these progs and scans?

I don't want these to come back when I reboot.

If it comes back, I re-wrote a tutorial on how to remove it from a thread I found here. http://www.webtalkz....wthread.php?t=2
