I had this pop-up come up a while ago on my desktop and my computer was going slow and wouldn't open anything. I've got rid of the pop-up, and most of my programs will work now, but my computer is going very slow now.
The CPU usage is at 100% and 95% and up of it is always in MSTASKS2.EXE. 'My Computer' and 'Control Panel' won't open, they freeze. When I open my Internet Explorer, the home page is 'C:\WINDOWS\secure.html' and can't be changed or deleted. When I open folders they take forever to load and usually freeze. I've read other people having a similar problem, but my Norton Antivirus is still working and scanning, it only keeps finding 'at risk' files that won't delete.
I've downloaded Hijackthis and scanned. Please help me.

Hello there, Jennaseed!

Do you think you will be able to download Spybot: Search & Destroy from http://www.tomcoyote.com/SPYBOT and install it then scan with it? If it freezes on you just say so and we can do it the longer way.

Thanks.

Thank you. :D It took me a while to get it downloaded because the sites continuously froze, but I've downloaded it. It's scanning right now, taking a while. Am I to tell it to 'fix' all that come up? I don't want to screw anything up haha. Thanks again.

Yes, it will automatically select everything that needs fixing. All you need to do is click "Fix Selected" and reboot if it asks you to. After that post a new HijackThis log.

It finished scanning and I clicked on the button to fix them all but these things keep coming up saying that files aren't found. WDENGINE.EXE keeps coming up. I'm clicking "ok" but they keep coming back. It's been going on for about 20 minutes now.

Now Spybot is [Not Responding]. Should I start all over and try again?

Yes try one more time. There is an option to disable creating a system restore point. You may consider doing that.
