We need more info. Have You tried pressing F8 at turn on to get into safe mode, and what program is missing an association?

Try this:

1)Open your Windows Registry by going to start->run->regedit
2)Expand the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" folder
3)Find the .exe folder (it's in alphabetical order)

Now write down what you have in the right-side frame of the window.

There is an easier way to fix this that I was just informed of.
If you have Windows XP, do the following:

Download and unzip the following file and run it: http://www.dougknox..../xp_exe_fix.zip
DO NOT restart your computer, immediatley post a HijackThis log in here so I can figure out what caused the association to be lost.

If you have Windows 9x or ME use the following file, same directions, though (do not reboot after running):

Thanks.
