When I open one specific folder I have, after about 30 seconds, without fail a popup window comes up saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working" This doesn't happen with any other folders. If I click for more details it says:

This may be unrelated, but sometimes when I open up firefox, it opens up a webpage that says antispyware removal, or something, and proceeds to do a "scan" of my computer. I have run Spybot search & Destroy and malwarebytes anti-malware already.

I have also run Hijackthis:

Hi,

It's entirely possible the two incidents are unrelated. The error is related to this .dll - Fault Module Name: MP4Splitter.dll
Is seems to be a faulty codec, please use Windows Search for MP4Splitter.dll and tell me what folder it's located in. Please give the full file-path, i.e. C:\Program Files etc.

Have you installed any codec packs on this PC?

For the Firefox redirect, please do the following:

Download DDS from here:
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds

Double-click on the icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post both.

Okay, so I've sorted out the problem with the windows explorer crash. I've found and deleted the codec.
When I follow the link http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds, it takes me to a page with a bunch of illegible script, and the main page is in Spanish (?), so I can't find the program from there. Is there somewhere else I can download it?

Thanks

Hi again,

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Posted Image

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Posted Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.
