I have no clue where to start. A couple of weeks ago something/someone hijacked my computer. Now all these strange things are happening. I have windows popping up all over the place, my home page keeps changing, and various other things. Here is my hijack this log. Please help!

Hi,
First thing to do ...

Run both of these uninstallers, reboot after each.

http://www.zestyfind.com/help.html

Look2Me UnInstaller
http://www.look2me.c...bin/UnInstaller

Next:

Download Posted Image Ad-Aware

After installing Ad-Aware, and before running the program.

Update Ad-aware's Reference File:
Please update the reference file following the instructions Posted Image here

Required Step: Posted Image Reconfigure Ad-Aware for Full Scan

Download and run Posted Image Lavasoft's VX2 Cleaner (plug-in)

Next: Download Posted Image HijackThis! 1.98

Create a folder via Windows Explorer for HijackThis, unzip, then move the file (HijackThis.exe) to that folder. This way any backups created are saved in a legit folder.

After the above, reboot, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log ...

Hi,
Well it looks like your still infected (Vx2\Look2Me)
Are you sure you ran the "Lavasoft's VX2 Cleaner (plug-in)" ...

Anyway let's try it this way ...

Download Posted Image VX2Finder
Posted Image Important!
Sign off and stay off the internet until the entire procedure is complete.
Run Vx2Finder click on the "click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button.

Then select the "Delete these files" button.
You will be left with notice about one to be deleted on reboot.
It will ask to reboot on deletion of the last file (Reboot)

Once back in Windows ...

Open VX2Finder again and click on these buttons down the right side:

User Agent, Guardian.reg, Restore Policy (OK each prompt)

Exit and reboot.

Run Vx2Finder once more
click on the "click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button.
Then click "Make log".

Post the contents of "vx2.log" along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi,

Am I still infected?

Looks like you forgot a step?

Then select the "Delete these files" button.
You will be left with notice about one to be deleted on reboot.
It will ask to reboot on deletion of the last file (Reboot)

Your Vx2 log should not show any files ...

Anyway ...

First thing to do is ...

Reconfigure Windows Explorer to show Hidden Files: [required step]
Open the Windows Explorer Folder Options - View [tab]:

Scroll down to the "Files and Folders" section.
Select: "Display the contents of system folders".

Scroll down to the "Hidden Files and Folders" section.
Select: "Show hidden files and folders", Ok the prompt
Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"
Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files" Ok the Prompt, click Apply

Click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Close Windows Explorer.

Next:

Close all open windows, except for HijackThis place a check in each of the following:
Then click "Fix checked".

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll
O3 - Toolbar: PowerSearch - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-D6F5-F66EA787AD2D} - C:\PROGRA~1\POWERS~1\Toolbar\pwrsbikd.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: Band Class - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - C:\Program Files\SEP\sep.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xce] C:\documents and settings\allan\local settings\temp\xce.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [4ENY9M83#CFFNC] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Nyjw1Wb1.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [x3Eg3pU] dpccurs.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg SchedulerV2.exe
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\DOCUME~1\Allan\LOCALS~1\Temp\drvAF6.tmp.dll

Next: Open VX2Finder again
Click on the "click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button.

Then select the "Delete these files" button.
You will be left with notice about one to be deleted on reboot.
It will ask to reboot on deletion of the last file (Reboot)

Then reboot, on restart, restart in Safe Mode [required step - see "How To" below]

Start | Run (type) "%temp%" (no quotes)
Completely delete the entire contents of that "temp" folder.

Open Windows Explorer locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\UktBUA.exe <--this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Rydo82.exe <--this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Nyjw1Wb1.exe <--this file
dpccurs.exe <--this file
C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <--this folder
C:\Program Files\Common files\Power Search <--this folder
C:\Program Files\SEP <--this folder

While still in Safe Mode, run Ad-Aware and the Ad-Aware VX2 Cleaner

After the above, restart normally and then ...

Run Vx2Finder once more
click on the "click to find VX2.BetterInternet" button.
Then click "Make log".

Post the contents of "vx2.log" along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi,
Well you're making good progress ...

Go to Posted Image Kaspersky Test one file
Click Browse, navigate to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Nyjw1Wb1.exe
Highlight (single-click) and click Submit
Wait for the results, if "detected\infected" copy and paste the info.

Next:

Close all open windows, rescan with HijackThis
Place a check in each of the following: Then click "Fix checked".

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.websearch...spx?tb_id=50032
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...spx?tb_id=50032
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.websearch...spx?tb_id=50032
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [4ENY9M83#CFFNC] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Nyjw1Wb1.exe

Then reboot, on restart, restart in Safe Mode [required step - see "How To" below]

Start | Run (type) "%temp%" (no quotes)
Completely delete the entire contents of that "temp" folder.

Open Windows Explorer locate and delete the following:

C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <--this folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Nyjw1Wb1.exe <--this file

While still in Safe Mode, run Ad-Aware and fix everything it finds.

After the above, reboot, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log ...
