When I visit a website, it is noticable that some words such as computer, security, games, music and so forth will be underlined and colored green. When hovering my mouse over this kind of text there is an immediate display of a large list of "sponsored links". I am curious if this is another form of spyware and if it is how do I get rid of it?

Thanks, Cobra

Could you do this for me first?

Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywarein.../HijackThis.exe
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I hade malware that caused my machine to act like you described. I was able to remove it each time with Spybot and/or Adaware. Did you try that? Forgive me if you have, I just thought I would mention it since it is an easy cure. If you have not, Just follow the following link (FAQ):

Even though I have searched for Spyware using Adaware and Spybot S&D, I searched again like you asked and found a few traces in spybot which I removed but yet still no cigar. What is your next suggestion?

Thanks, Cobra

Did you update your spybot and adaware?
Anyway, Budfred, quacamel and I cannot mind any blatant malware in your system. However the following programs could have been the source of your problem.

Did you install them intentionally? If you did, its fine and I think the underlined hyperlinks are probably harmless.

You may want to update and run your norton antivirus again just to be sure, but i am quite certain that your log is clean.

I did install these programs intentionally, Sharazaa is Spyware free but Konitiki is Cnets download manager and could possiby be causing this problem since some of its files appear when I run Ad-Aware but I don't want to remove them because I use that download manager sometimes.

Thanks, Cobra
