Hi,

I have my home page redirected to secure.html which despite using SpySweeper and Norton does not seem to want to stay away. Also some other adware seems to keep reapeearing and occasionally blasts a porn page when using the back button. Finally www.google.com has been rendered unreachable from this machine but not another.

I am including a HijackThis log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,
I had the same problem with a client's computer today and I couldn't get
rid of secure.html. You have the Trojan.Ecure virus you can find information here
http://securityrespo...ojan.ecure.html

2 new variants of Trojan.Ecure (B & C) were added to the virus definitions today. The computer I was looking at had the "B" variant. You can find information about these below:
http://securityrespo...an.ecure.b.html
http://securityrespo...an.ecure.c.html

The last line of your HjackThis log shows the "parent" dll for this virus:
system32.dll. If you try deleting the secure.html file in c:\windows, the system32.dll is what recopies it back each time. My HjackThis didn't even show system32.dll in my log.

Just update your Norton Antivirus to the defintions from 7/7/04. Do a
scan and it'll locate the problem.

Good luck
Mark
