      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

PLEASE READ - Reversing upgrade   02/23/2017

We have found that this new upgrade is somewhat of a disaster.  We are finding lots of glitches in being able to post and administer the forum.  Additionally, there are new costs associated with the upgrade that we simply cannot afford.  As a result, we have decided to reverse course and go back to the previous version of our software.  Since this will involve restoring it from a backup, we will lose posts that have been added since January 30 or possibly even some before that.    If you started a topic during that time, we urge you to make backups of your posts and you will need to start the topics over again after the change.  You can simply paste the copies of your posts that you created at that point.    If you joined the forum this month, you will need to re-register since your membership will be lost along with the posts.  Since you have a concealed password, we cannot simply restore your membership for you.   We are going to backup as much as we can so that it will reduce inconvenience for our members.  Unfortunately we cannot back everything up since much will be incompatible with the old version of our software.  We apologize for the confusion and regret the need to do this even though it is not viable to continue with this version of the software.   We plan to begin the process tomorrow evening and, if it goes smoothly, we shouldn't be offline for very long.  However, since we have not done this before, we are not sure how smoothly it will go.  We ask your patience as we proceed.

Hello Gamera

You may find it helpful to print out these instructions

In start > control panel > add or remove programs - make sure you have change or remove programs selected in the sidebar, see if 4 okay or armycopy has an entry and if so uninstall them.

Open Adaware and configure it as follows. Screenshot instructions for setup are here if needed.

  • In the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.
  • Make sure the following settings are made and on (ON = GREEN)
  • From main window : Click Start then Activate in-depth scan (recommended)
  • Click Use custom scanning options then click Customize and have these options selected: Under Drives and Folders put a check by Scan within archives and below that under Memory and Registry put a check by all the options there.
  • Now click on the Tweak button in that same window. Under Scanning Engine select Unload recognized processes during scanning and under Cleaning Engine select Let windows remove files in use at next reboot.
  • Click Proceed to save your settings. Now to scan just click the Next button.
  • When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).
  • Reboot your computer.

Close all other windows except for hijackthis, perform a scan and put a check against the following items and click 'fix checked'.

Now reboot your computer and start in safe mode. To do this, press the F8 key repeatedly as the computer starts up until you see a menu screen (if Windows starts normally, restart it again). Use the arrow keys to highlight "Safe Mode" and press Enter. For further information on safe mode click here

Make sure you have all hidden files shown

Delete the following entries:

Folders

C:\PROGRAM FILES\armycopy

C:\PROGRA~1\THUNKA~1

Reboot normally and post a fresh log so we can check that everything has been cleaned.

These are some optional recommendations, what to do with them is your choice

Do you have the freeware or bought version of Net Pumper as I see it in your log. The freeware version of NetPumper shows banners in the the application window and has bundled CyDoor and SaveNow. If you have this version I recommend you uninstall it in add/remove programs.

This item is considered to be a resource hog that is not needed and it may be worthwhile to fix it with HJT. You will still be able to start it manually if you need it...

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

You have RealPlayer running at Startup and this is not necessary. You can fix this with HJT, but you will also need to set it not to load in RealPlayer itself to keep it from resetting itself. Rename or REALSCHED.EXE to REALSCHED.OLD as that is the only way to make absolutely certain that it never runs, and RealOne Player works fine without it.

Then fix this line with HJT

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

You are using DAP which is not technically malware, but it may include malware and allow it into your system. You can find safer alternatives here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php?cat=dlman#dlman To remove it, fix these items with HJT and then remove it in Add/Remove Programs....

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Download with &DAP - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapextie.htm

O8 - Extra context menu item: Download &all with DAP - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapextie2.htm

Spybot TeaTimer and spyware guard will do the same thing, you should switch one of them off otherwise you'll be notified twice of every change.
