Recently, I get popups on pages like google front page, yahoo frontpage, etc. where there shouldn't be any popups. They're from generic websites, like AOL, Weatherbug, etc. and they only come at random times. I ran cwshredder, older ad-aware, and newest version of spybot s&d. Could someone please look at my log file and see if there's something on the startup? That would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
First thing to do is ...

Update Ad-aware's Reference File: instructions Posted Image here

Required Step: Posted Image Reconfigure Ad-Aware for Full Scan

Note: do not run Ad-Aware yet just update and reconfigure.

Reconfigure Windows Explorer to show Hidden Files: [required step]
Open the Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options - View [tab]:

Scroll down to the "Files and Folders" section.
Select: "Display the contents of system folders".

Scroll down to the "Hidden Files and Folders" section.
Select: "Show hidden files and folders", Ok the prompt
Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"
Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files" Ok the Prompt, click Apply

Click the "Apply to all Folders" button. Close Windows Explorer.

Next:

Close all open windows, rescan with HijackThis
Place a check in each of the following then click "Fix checked".

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {69F81850-B963-7192-D150-615504A42E4B} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\vmjkf.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Haos] C:\Documents and Settings\Adam Schmelzel\Application Data\lsca.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Nqmhe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wmuxqwjj.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg SchedulerV2.exe
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://207.188.7.150...tzip/RdxIE2.cab
O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} (MediaTicketsInstaller Control) - http://www.mt-downlo...tsInstaller.cab

Then reboot, on restart, restart in Safe Mode [required step - see "How To" below]

Start | Run (type) "%temp%" (no quotes)
Completely delete the entire contents of that "temp" folder.

Open Windows Explorer locate and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vmjkf.dll <--this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wmuxqwjj.exe <--this file

While still in Safe Mode, run Ad-Aware and fix everything it finds.

Download Posted Image HijackThis! 1.98

After the above, reboot, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log ...

Hi,
Your log looks clean now ... good job!

Last Step:

"Flush System Restore" (see "How To" below)
Basically turn off System Restore, reboot, run a full (updated) NAV scan, reboot and turn System Restore back on and create a new Restore Point.

How To: Configure Norton AntiVirus to scan all files

I would suggest adding some "Defense" to your system ...
How To: Prevent this from happening again?
