      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Hello wolf2126,

Please follow this link to remove TwainTech

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs "Change or Remove Programs"

Look for TwainTech, and Remove it.

Then go to Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) and click on "Processes" then "End Process" for this:

csuptfn.exe

Then close Task Manager.

Open Hijackthis, click Scan, then put a check next to the following entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id=

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id=

I also have been infected with twain-tech. I have been using Ad-Aware for a couple of years, and have just tried a couple of other detection programs. They all find twain-tech files and delete them, but those files just keep on regenerating, either after a few minutes, or on startup/restart. I have googled many sites and applied their advice, including that on your site (below + that given to "the_simurgh" on July3), on how to rid myself of twain-tech, but it just keeps regenerating.

So, the issue is not detecting/deleting the twain-tech files I find, but how to find the undetected file that is doing the regeneration. I have XP Home, IE 6. Has anyone actually been successful on totally removing this insidious %$$#@^&* ??

Hope to hear something positive.

Hi wolf2126,

Your welcome.

The option to "scan my host file" is in Scanning/Memory & Registry box. It's the last one on that list.

Just one to clean up.

Open Hijackthis, click Scan, then put a check next to the following entries:

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

Now Close all open Windows and browsers (have only HJT open) and click "Fix Checked".

Other than that, it looks clean. Good job!

Here is some free protection you should consider:

Download and install:

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies.

IESPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Check for updates occaisionally.

And also see So how did I get infected in the first place?

Autodad. You are the best. I clean up the last bit and downloaded the extra protection. I looked in adaware in scanning - Memory & registry but there are only 3 items Scan active processes, Scan registry and Deep scan registry. There is not hosts file. I'm using adaware 6 personal build 162. Is that the latest? :hmmm:

Hi wolf2126,

No, 162 is not the latest. It is up to 181 now.

My version is Ad-aware 6 Personal, Build 6.181 and the latest Reference file is 01R333 18.07.2004

Try doing an update to see if you can get Build 6.181. If not, I would uninstall your current version, then download the latest.

Then set it up as is suggested above, and run it again.

Stay safe.
