Hello wisconce

You may find it helpful to print out these instructions.

You are running hijackthis from your desktop, this is not a good idea because when we do a fix hijackthis will create backups and they will be spread all over your desktop. Can you please create a folder in My Documents and call it HijackThis or HJT or similar. Then extract hijackthis into the folder you have created and run it from there. When you have done that, delete the copy of hijackthis that you have on your desktop.

We need to remove a program called "Twain-Tec". To do this, first you need to disable System restore as per the instructions at here. Twaintec is a transponder. HijackThis will detect it as a BHO but it must not be removed using HijackThis. This is because of the remaining registry entries and files which can be dangerous. Instead the following method of removal is preferable and complete:
Go to "Add/Remove Programs" => Uninstall "Twain-Tech". Reboot the computer to SAFE mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?. Search for and delete mxtarget.dll twaintech.dll and twaintec.ini If twaintech.dll is in use, then you would need to rename it, reboot the computer, and then delete it.

Go to TrendMicro and perform an online virus scan. Let it fix anything that it finds. Do the same at Pandasoftware.

Download Spybot Search and Destroy from here. Install the program, open it and click the Search for Updates button. When updates are found, put a check mark next to all and click the Download Updates button. Now click the Search & Destroy icon in the left pane, then the Check for problems button at the bottom of the window. When the scan completes, make sure all the items in RED are ticked, then click the Fix Selected Problems button. Screenshot instructions for installation and setup are here if needed.

Download Adaware from here. Install the program, launch it and configure it as follows. Screenshot instructions for setup are here if needed.
  • In the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.
  • Make sure the following settings are made and on (ON = GREEN)
  • From main window : Click Start then Activate in-depth scan (recommended)
  • Click Use custom scanning options then click Customize and have these options selected: Under Drives and Folders put a check by Scan within archives and below that under Memory and Registry put a check by all the options there.
  • Now click on the Tweak button in that same window. Under Scanning Engine select Unload recognized processes during scanning and under Cleaning Engine select Let windows remove files in use at next reboot.
  • Click Proceed to save your settings. Now to scan just click the Next button.
  • When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).
  • Reboot your computer.
Press ctrl+alt+delete to bring up the task manager and under the processes tab end any of the processes running
TV Media
AdDestroyer
Virtual Bouncer
gljmftk.exe
55wk67.exe

In start > control panel > add or remove programs - make sure you have change or remove programs selected in the sidebar and highlight the following programs and uninstall them.
TV Media
PromulGate
AdDestroyer

Virtual Bouncer - Do a 'custom' uninstall of Virtual Bouncer if the program has its own uninstaller. Using automatic uninstall may also uninstall legitimate programs and even parts of your operating system. If its not there, leave it and we'll uninstall it manually later.

Close all other windows except for hijackthis, perform a scan and put a check against the following items and click 'fix checked'.

These items are considered to be resource hogs that are not needed and it may be worthwhile to fix them with HJT. You will still be able to start them manually if you need them...

Use the arrow keys to highlight "Safe Mode" and press Enter. For further information on safe mode click here

Make sure you have all hidden files shown

Delete the following entries:

Reboot normally

Did you add this to your IE trusted zone - if not then fix this line with HijackThis
O15 - Trusted Zone: www.wachovia.com

You have RealPlayer running at Startup and this is not necessary. You can fix this with HJT, but you will also need to set it not to load in RealPlayer itself to keep it from resetting itself. Rename EVNTSVC.EXE to EVNTSVC.EXE.OLD as that is the only way to make absolutely certain that it never runs, and RealOne Player works fine without it. Then fix this line with HJT
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\evntsvc.exe -osboot

Post a fresh log so we can check that everything has been cleaned. In the meantime you can help prevent this happening again. Also, Did you install party poker?

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies.

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Both are very small free programs that you run once, and then just occasionally to check for updates.

If you don't have an up to date hosts file it might be a good idea to replace it with a new one. This will help you block bad sites and ad servers. In windows explorer go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Etc, locate the file called hosts (no file extension) and rename it to hosts.old. Then download MVPS hosts file and extract it to the exact same location.

It may be worth reading How did I get infected in the first place?
