      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Pestiferous hijackings

2 posts in this topic

I read your FAQ file (thank you).

CWS keeps trying to take my browser to about:blank and I then get popups advertising anti-spyware.

Spy Sweeper finds 3 files and 17 traces and removes them constantly but they return. About every 3 minutes whether I am on line or not, Spy Sweep tells me that my home page has been reset. Spy Sweep is able to contain this action but still it vexes! :wtf:

Here is my log from hijackthis;

More observations on this problem:

When I remove the R1 and R0 items with HJT, the hijacker puts a new pseudonym in the registry -- variously iioj.dll, jdgjja, nagkfb.dll, nooo.dll. These files are nonexistant but somehow direct to the real problem file.

FindnFix points to a driver called ctl.dll. I am unable to delete this file. Perhaps I have a version of FNF that lacks a MOVEit.bat in the KEYS1 folder? Spy Sweeper sometimes points to this file as well but is more likely to find the pseudonym and seems unable to truly remove the essential problem.

:techsupport: Since I fiddled so much, here is a new HJT log:
