      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

PC also running EXTREMELY slow

4 posts in this topic

Hi. About 2 or so days ago my PC started running terribly slow periodically. It'll start up fine and after about 10 minutes it starts crawling as if there's lots of software open (usually there's just an internet window). Sometimes it continues to run bad, or it starts running okay after about 20 minutes. I'd REALLY appreciate it if you could help me. I don't want to have to format my PC again!!

Here's my HijackThis log. Thanks in advance:

One thing that I've found will slow down a healthy system

is having too many active processes or tasks running.

Go to start/run/msconfig and click on startup and see how many

programs are running. It's your choice, but for me, I only keep

my anti-virus software going here. You can un-click programs like

msmsgs, mmtask, and realsched etc. (messenger, musicmatch, real player) without hurting the programs. You don't need them running all the time. Or, you can open up task manager/Processes and End the

processes you're not using. BUT, Be Careful, Here! If you're not sure if a process is needed you could cause a problem by ending it.

Here is a link to a website that has a list A-Z of which tasks/programs are actual needed programs and which are viruses or simply not needed.

Maybe, it will help.

P.S. Have you run Spybot S&D?

Hi. Thanks for your help.

I actually found out the problem a couple of minutes ago. The process cideamon.exe was the culprit. I stopped it running through My Computer>Manage etc and now the pc works fine.

I'll be sure to end those other processes that run as well anyway.

Thanks again.

P.S. I did run spybot ;)
