The problem is that several times an hour, IE6 wants to shut down after using random mouseclicks to links on random websites with the following msg:

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."

It then asks to send a dump of the environment to microsoft, which you can
say 'send' or 'dont send', and then you can configure it to restart the
browser.. So you can get into a maddening loop.

Is this evidence of a known spyware issue? What do I do about it.. I already ran CWShredder which reported None of the items were found on my PC.

Then I ran the Hijack This software, and want to post the log here for help. Please advise if you are familar with this maddening IE6 problem Im having, and if the log shows any sign of being related to this.. Thanks much.

Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

Dave,

Thank you So much. Im not 100% sure, but, it Looks like this Might have actually fixed it.. A few sites where I was having these IE problems can now be searched problemless.! I will certainly watch it the next few days, and if it recurs, will repeat the hijack scan, and post a new log. I wish I knew where I was picking up this spyware, whatever. But its awesome how you knew what specific footprints were problematic..

Like those Internet Optimizer folders, and reg entries for instance. Where did They come from? They were the ones causing my IE6 to give me that "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" msg, and closing it up?? Was the purpose of this spyware to cause the user problems like this, or, was this just a product of their nefarious activity? thanks again, and ill advise how things go.
