      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Spyware problem (Regsvrac32 and others)

7 posts in this topic

First off, I did everything in your FAQ as far as I can tell. I apologize if I missed something. I have a constant pop up problem, including from a website that some friends of mine run that I know should have no problems. I also have a regsvrac32 running on my computer, and I don't know what that is. No matter how many times I shut it down, it comes back, and I can't delete. Here is my log. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You appear to have the remnants of an adware, see http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data...are.margoc.html

Click here to download TheKillbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Make sure the 'Create backup before deleting file' box is checked. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry:C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\REGSVRAC32.EXE

Although the BHO doesn't show as registered, please also do this:

Click Start > Run.

Type the following:

regsvr32 /u %system%\regsvrac32.dll

Click OK.

Reboot, and please post a new log.

This is the nasty one. Takes over your computer, Explorer error keeps coming up, many bogus files.

Be sure to search the registry. under HKCurrent User as well as HKLocal Machine.

The usual search: software\microsoft\windows\current Version\run once. This program generates bogus file names, and loads them here to run. Also it fills MSCONFIG with them as well. when you run MSCONFIG it doesn't appear right away because of the massive listing of bogus files.

The program wants to access IP 24.159.64.20 according to Zone Alarm.

The Registry CLSID to search for is:

D537A3D0-8C07-4D62-953F-162207F5090D

Margo.C will be found in C:\windows\temp.

The cache of bogus files for msconfig will be in a startup folder.

Run windows in Safe Mode to start deleting some of the miscellaneous files. I had trouble using Symantec's method of removing regsvraa32.dll, so I noted file size and booted up in command prompt and deleted it easily by that method. :)
