Hello All,

I am trying to root out the source of a continuing problem that initiated when I was redirected to a website without being prompted about a week ago. I have followed the FAQ, downloaded and run the recommended free-ware (thank you for that by the way) and still not been able to resolve this issue. I have pasted in the HijackThis log below and have a Startuplist log available if required that was generated at the same time.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.97.7

- C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEsp.mht (tries to reset my homepage in IE)

Additionally I have noticed each time I have run AdAware (on a daily basis now)the number of Processes has increased. I'm not sure if this is relevant but I figured I'd give you all the information I could. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hey. Open any folder on your computer, in the address bar copy and paste this line in the address bar and click GO:

javascript:navigator.userAgent

Then what it shows you, copy and paste into a reply here to me.

Then Scan with hijackthis and fix the following with no browser windows open:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://www.searchv.com/search.html

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0B519E07-7824-4adc-8890-93D5EABBF285} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msadocm32.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ftsaxruduxmxc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\iacsrp.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe 1

O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (HKCU)

O16 - DPF: {2B96D5CC-C5B5-49A5-A69D-CC0A30F9028C} (MiniBugTransporterX Class) - http://download.weat...porter.cab?RND=

O21 - SSODL: System - {572C156B-FDFE-4C8B-9C0A-CC408A612767} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\system32.dll (file missing)

Reboot your computer

find and delete the following if there:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msadocm32.dll

C:\WINDOWS\System32\iacsrp.exe

C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS

Empty recycling bin and then post a new log, Thanks.

I will do as you requested when I get home from work. I need to confirm with you to fix/delete the following:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe 1

O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (HKCU)

O16 - DPF: {2B96D5CC-C5B5-49A5-A69D-CC0A30F9028C} (MiniBugTransporterX Class) - http://download.weat...porter.cab?RND=

C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS

These files correspond to a legitimate program I utilize called WeatherBug. If you believe these may have been corrupted or harmful I will fix/delete them but I needed to confirm this action with you prior to doing so.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Michael

Well it's considered adware, if you really want to keep it, you can.

Instructions have been followed, keeping the WeatherBug program. The text displayed after I entered the "javascript:navigator.userAgent" in the address bar was:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705)

The log below is the result of eliminating the "programs" you instructed.

As a note when I pressed the "Fix" in HijackThis an error was generated, it read as follows:

An unexpected error has occurred at procedure: modBackup_MakeBackup(sItem=O21 - SSODL: System - {572C156B-FDFE-4C8B-9C0A-CC408A612767} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\system32.dll (file missing))
Error #62 - Input past end of file

Please email me at merijn@spywareinfo.com, reporting the following:
* What you were doing when the error occurred
* How you can reproduce the error
* A complete HijackThis scan log, if possible

Windows version: Windows NT 5.01.2600
MSIE version: 6.0.2800.1106
HijackThis version: 1.98.0

This message has been copied to your clipboard.

I will go ahead and send the email requested. If you have any further action you would recommend pertaining to the error please let me know.

After the "Fix" and reboot I deleted the files as instructed. I did not find the:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msadocm32.dll in the search and the:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\iacsrp.exe search also found a file listed as:

IACSRP.EXE-21D626F7.pf

I have deleted both the iacsrp.exe and IACSRP.EXE-21D626F7.pf files.

When I started my IE browser there was no attempt to change the start page and things seem to be running "normally." I will reboot the system and run the SpyBot and AdAware software to confirm everything has been removed.

Thank you very much for your time and guidance in this situation. I will post again to let you know everything has worked properly.

Hello...

Everything seems to be running normally, however I ran SpyBot when I booted up today and it is still showing "DSO Exploit (5 Entries)" in the system somewhere. It does not seem to be causing any overt problems but I would still like to permanently remove it.

Thank you again for the assistance.
