      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

AIM hijacker, disables ctrl-alt-del

4 posts in this topic

My future mother-in-law has quite the infestation on her computer. This bug (unless there are multiple ones) does several things:

1. Disables (well, quickly exits) task manager

2. Disables regedit

3. Periodically, even when AIM is not running, launches a website through AIM (I only assume this since AIM suddenly runs at the same time, with an error saying you must be logged in to access the link you clicked on). I forget what the complete URL is, but it is somewhere at www.angelfire.com

When the computer is in safe mode, or safe mode with networking, the hijacker/virus does not run (or at least the symtoms do not appear).

Norton Antivirus, Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Pest Scan's online scan cannot find anything that causes the above. I ran hijackthis after the website popped up, but I was short on time so I didn't think of doing it in safe mode. If anyone can figure out what is going on from the following, you rock:

Well...that may help remove this thing whenever I find out how. But right now, I still have the problem of removing it.

Well...she uninstalled a whole bunch of stuff, and her browser no longer gets hijacked. However, ctrl-alt-del is still disabled, and so is regedit. Help someone?
