John 8:12 - Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

ZoneAlarm offers a decent free firewall, though its becoming a little bloated (do not activate its anti-virus monitoring, & dont touch the Ebay password thing). It is very user friendly, if you are more technically inclined, Kerio v.2 is highly regarded around here.
Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with the software.

KPF rev2.15 is good. It takes more "tweaking" to get it set up than Zone alarm. ZA just works, "straight out of the box!"
Be wary of strong drink. It may make you shoot at tax collectors, and miss!

Rules-based firewalls (and any corporate/digithead grade firewall) will stop any and all traffic when first installed. If you don't know about firewall rules, download and install the free version of ZoneAlarm instead. It is is much easier to use by folks that aren't firewall literate, as it has a pretty good out-of-the-box configuration.
