Hi, my parent's pc has way too many processes running all the time. These include things like realplayer, AIM, winamp, etc. What is the fastest/easiest way to stop these programs from automatically loading? They are using XP home.

In the programs preferences they should be an option to not load at boot. For example with AIM go to Preferences and unselect "Start AIM when Windows Start". You can also just right click and close the program in your taskbar.

Go to start/run and type in "msconfig" and select "OK"

Now go to the "Startup" tab and uncheck the things you do not want loaded.
