I run Win98se on a 225Mhz processor so I keep AVG free edition disabled and just run manual scans regularly. When installing BackOrifice as a networking tool I was presented with an AVG DOS based window asking me to either allow or deny access to the trojan horse files. I have found other solutions to the network problem and am very happy with the performance of AVG but would like to know how it provides protection when supposedly disabled. Both the AVG software options and msconfig show it as inactive. Any information would be appreciated, thanks.
