      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

Please copy the entire log.

Make sure you have 1.98.

Please do this.

Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe

If that link isn't working, extract from http://www.downloads.subratam.org/hijackthis.zip

Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.

Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Please - don't bump your topic more than once a day. Many people have waited several days for a reply. Unfortunately we are swamped.

1. Download and unzip about:buster. Extract it into its own folder.

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/AboutBuster.zip

2. Boot in Safe Mode - Hit the F8 key several times while booting, until you get a menu.

3. Run About:Buster while you are in Safe Mode.

Hit Ok on the first prompt, Start on the second. Then Ok to start the removal. A log will start to form. After the program runs. Save the log somewhere.

Run it twice.

Then reboot and post another HijackThis log and also the About:Buster log..

Hi there, could you do this for me.

Click here to download FindnFix.exe (2K/XP only!) by freeatlast. Double-click on the FINDnFIX.exe and it will install a folder called FINDnFIX on your system. Go to that folder and double-click on !LOG!.bat. The program takes a few minutes to collect the necessary information. When done post the contents of Log.txt in this thread.

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»*** Note! ***»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»

The list will produce a small database of files that will match certain criteria.

You must know how to ID the file based on the filters provided in

the scan, as not all the files flagged are bad.

Ex: read only files, s/h files, last modified date. size, etc.

The filters provided should help narrow down the list, and hopefully

pinpoint the culprit.

Along with that, registry scan logged at the end should match the

corresponding file(s) listed.

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»

Unless the file match the entire criteria, it should not be pointed to remove

without attempting to confirm it's nature!

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»

At times there could be several (legit) files flagged, and/or duplicate culprit file(s)!

If in doubt, always search the file(s) and properties according to criteria!

The file(s) found should be moved to \FINDnFIX\"junkxxx" Subfolder

Yes, you are correct. In the keys1 folder, double click on FIX.bat. You will get an alert of about 15 seconds before reboot - allow it to reboot. On restart, open Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32 folder, find the CTLN.DLL file (it should be visible now). Highlight the file and using top menu, click Edit>Move to folder...

Select C:\Findnfix\junkxxx as destination. Move the file.

Open the FINDnFIX folder again and double-click on RESTORE.bat. When it is finished, in FINDnFIX folder, there will be a file called Log2.txt - post it's contents in your next reply.

Nearly there, open the FINDnFIX folder again and open the Files2 folder. Double-click on the ZIPZAP.bat. It will quickly clean the rest and will make a copy of the bad file(s) in the same folder (junkxxx.zip) and open your email client with instructions. Simply drag and drop the junkxxx.zip file from the folder into the mail message and submit to the specified addresses.

Please be sure to include a link to this thread in the body of your email. Reboot when done, then delete the entire FINDnFIX folder. Could you click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update' and make sure you are running version 1.59.1 Reboot when done. Rescan with HJT and post a new log in your next reply.

Click here to download TheKillbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking 'Kill File' after pasting each one:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ole2eqj.dll

C:\WINDOWS\System32\htui.exe

Click 'Exit' when done.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Open TheKillbox again, click File, Open!Submit and you will see a folder bearing the date that you used TheKillbox - zip it up and send to spyware_submit@hotmail.com including a link to this thread in the body of the email.

Then create a new folder called C:\HijackThis, extract the HijackThis.exe file from the zip file into the new folder and run it from there. This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong. Make sure that you have no other browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

O2 - BHO: ole2eqj - {8EC4B8A7-5608-48B8-8C24-CC0B6D6AF70D} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ole2eqj.dll

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [htui] C:\WINDOWS\System32\htui.exe

Reboot, rescan with HJT and post a new log for a final check over.

I did as you instructed... however, ole2eqj.dll was "unable to be deleted" according to killbox. I suspect its currently RUNNING. Gah, i'm preaching to the choir again. The other file was annihilated as you requested. Maybe I should run this in safe mode.. I dare not act without your guidance though. ..I await further instruction before I act. -Darkwolf

Daemon, I did as you instructed. Forgive me day delay as I had to take care of some business in some other city. I usually check this post every hour! ^_^. MOTHER lion! nice to see you again! OK scanned and removed htui.exe however the first of the two files the o2 one was not there! Also I'm happy to report that thus far I have had zero pop ups and zero reinfection... OMG thank you SO much. This, hopefully, will be my final post. I cannot express my gratitude with words. ^_____________^

Not so fast. That BHO is still there and has morphed. Try this.

Open TheKillbox. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\kbdusc.dll

Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot". In the window that opens up, click on the File menu and choose "Add File". The C:\WINDOWS\System32\kbdusc.dll listing should show up in the window. Then in the same window choose the Action menu and select "Process and Reboot". You'll be prompted to reboot, do so.

Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries (if still there) by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

O2 - BHO: kbdusc - {E9897FE3-CE6E-E3C3-4E85-BCCC5C35B3C6} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\kbdusc.dll

Reboot when done. Rescan with HJT and post a new log.

OMG. Forgive my ignorance.. I hope I do not pay in spades for my hasty conclusions. I did what was asked. After killing it w/ killbox I rebooted and scanned. It said the "file was missing" and deleted it with hijack this. Rebooted and this is my new log. -Darkwolf ^_^

Not only do I see 0 pop ups... but my computer is actually.. FASTER. It doesn't SKIP like it used to. If this is trully the end of this ordeal I am once again in your debt. Plz ask your superiors to institute some sort of paypal. Your services should not go unrewarded. ^_^ I thank both you and mother lion for services rendered. I am glad that there are still bastions of caring people in this online world. -Darkwolf
