I am running XP Pro with sygate Personal Firewall,
Spyware Guard, Norton AntiVirus and have used
Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, Hijack This, FxBeagle and
AboutBuster.

The symptoms are:
Norton says "Norton AntiVirus has detected a virus on your computer.
Object Name: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WDMAP.DLL
Virus Name: Backdoor.Trojan
Action Taken: Access to the file denied."
Clicking the OK button results in continued attempts to access.

I don't see anything else Any ideas where I start?

Restart into safe mode, go to the file and delete it. (Go into safe mode by hitting F5 a few times at the very beginning of startup).

Nohoboy,

When you go to safe mode the dll will most probably not be there. If it is well and good, you can delete it. But if, as usual for this tricky little bugger, you might be able to sort it out by following the suggestion at this post:

Just substitute your WDMAP.dll for the one refered to here.

Cheers,
Mish
