      IE 11 copy/paste problem

      It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

SHUTDOWN ERROR

11 posts in this topic

Hi, this is my first post here and I hope someone can help me. My problem is that at shutdown rundll32.exe is popping up and I have to press end now to enable the computer to shutdown as normal. I am running windows xp and have only just started getting this problem in the last few days. I have looked at all sorts of websites and forums for help but to no avail......I have adware, spybot and HJT installed on my computer, all are up to date and none of them seem to find anything sinister, I also have Norton 2004 which doesn't pick anything up either. Please can someone offer any help, I would be very grateful, I don't know what to do next....Thanx :techsupport:

Hi there,

You may have to go Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, to Remove any instance of;

Messenger Plus <<< this is advised see below

Make sure all browsers and windows are closed except for hijackthis and put a check against the following and click 'fix checked';

NOTE THE OPTIONAL FIXES, I STRONGLY ADVISE FIXING THEM

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ClickMe] C:\apps\ClickMe\ClickMe.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CleanEasyImg] c:\apps\easydvd\cleanall.exe<<<<if you know of this and use it keep it, if not fix it

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"<<<<You might want to consider uninstalling Messenger Plus. See this post: http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/arch...june-2003/3.php

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [update Service] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\TEKNUM~1\update.exe /startup

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE<<<<These items are considered to be resource hogs that are not needed and it may be worthwhile to fix them with HJT. You will still be able to start them manually if you need them...

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/22b5dec2c8293e...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Restart your computer in

Safe Mode Also make sure you show hidden files Then delete the following files or folders as indicated below if they still show:

Not all or any of these may still show,

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe<<<<Folder<<OPTIONAL

C:\apps\ClickMe\ClickMe.exe<<<<Folder

c:\apps\easydvd\cleanall.exe<<<<File<<OPTIONAL

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\TEKNUM~1\update.exe<<<<File

Reboot, then post a fresh logfile so that I can check to see if it is clean.

Hi there,

Make sure all browsers and windows are closed except for hijackthis and put a check against the following and click 'fix checked';

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

Fix that line and your log is clean, to help keep it that way do this;

To provide future protection - I would advise you to download and install:

SpywareBlaster will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies. Download from Here

IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone, if you use IE, so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all. Download

Here

Both are very small free programs that you run once, and then just weekly to check for updates.

And also see

So how did I get infected in the first place?
