I can't manage to get rid of several adware programs that continuously re-install themselves on reboot, such as Websearch toolbar and allaboutsearching.com, and others.

I have read the FAQ, run Ad-aware, Spybot, and Webroot's Spy Sweeper, and they can't completely clean this mess off my computer.

Can anyone help? Following is my hijackthis log after running Ad-aware and Spy Sweeper today.

Thanks!

Do the following .
How to remove Wintools infections.
  • Disable System restore as per the instructions here.
  • Reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?
  • Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Administrative Tools" => "Services".
  • Look for a service called "Wintools for IE Service" => Double-click it to open, then click on the Stop button and change the "Startup type" to Disabled. Do not worry if the service is not listed.
  • Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once => Click Task Manager => Click the Processes tab => Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the processes => Scroll through the list and look for "WtoolsA.exe", "WToolsS.exe" and "WSup.exe". If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process => Exit the Task Manager.
  • Go into "Add/Remove Programs" in the "Control Panel" and look for any Wintools entry. Uninstall it.
  • Open a command prompt by clicking on "Start" => "Run" and type in "cmd" and click on "OK". At the prompt, type regsvr32 /u /s "C:\Program Files\Toolbar\toolbar.dll" (Quotation marks must be typed in on the preceeding command) then <ENTER>.
  • Type exit to close the command prompt window.
  • Delete the following directories:
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools
    • C:\Program Files\Toolbar
  • Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and then place a check mark in the following boxes, And click on "Fix Checked":O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll

Done. Got rid of WinTools, thanks!

Now Spy Sweeper finds nothing, Spybot finds nothing, and Ad-Aware finds something it calls "VX2" and I can't get rid of it because it renames its DLL with each reboot. Can someone help me get rid of it?

Increase the strength of Ad-Aware by installing the VX2 Cleaner plug-in.
Close Ad-Aware 6.
Download the free VX2 Cleaner here.
Install the VX2 Cleaner.
Start Ad-Aware and click on "Plug-ins".
Select the VX2 Cleaner plug-in and click "Run Plugin".
If your computer isnít infected, click "Close".
If your computer is infected:
Select "Clean System".
Reboot your computer.
Scan your computer with Ad-Aware.
Remove any VX2 objects detected.
Reboot your computer again.
Run a second scan to make sure the files have been removed from your computer.

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BJCFD] C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

This one is a rescource hog and not needed in startup .
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

Now reboot into safe mode and delete the following files and folders if found ."Fix Checked"...Reboot to SAFE mode to delete files ,How to start computer in safe mode

C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe...delete file

to delete the above files and folder you will need to do the following
go to Show hidden files & folders
"Fix Checked"...Reboot to SAFE mode to delete files
How to start computer in safe mode
reboot computer and post a new log

After you get it all fixed and things are working good ,Download and install these two programs to help stop Spyware .

Spywareblaster

SpywareGuard

IE-SPYAD
