      IE 11 copy/paste problem

It has come to our attention that people using Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) are having trouble with copy/paste to the forum. If you encounter this problem, using a different browser like Firefox or Chrome seems to get around the problem. We do not know what the problem is, but it seems to be specific to IE 11 and we are hopeful that Microsoft will eventually fix it.

      UPDATE on Upgrade   02/07/2017

We were somewhat delayed on getting the upgrade done, but it looks like it will now be done in the next few days or possibly even later today.   There is one change coming with the new upgrade that may affect people when they log in. There will no longer be separate Usernames and Display Names. Your Display Name will now be the only name you have for the forum and, if you used your Username to log in, you will now need to use your Display Name. It is likely that everyone who visits after the upgrade will need to log in again, so please keep this in mind.   Update again - Feb 7 - We have completed the main part of the upgrade and we are working to tweak settings for the site.  It will probably take us a while, but we will eventually settle down to the way we want it.  In the meanwhile, your posts should be secure, but the look of the forum and some functions may change over time.

Notifications blocked by Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, etc   02/14/2017

Our notifications are blocked by those mail servers. If you have email address at Hotmail, Hotmail.uk, etc etc then you will not get notifications and need to manually check for new replies. We recommend Gmail.   The notifications won't even be in your Spam folder - they just go down a black hole.

Ok. Now I've read ALL the instructions and I apologize. I've already posted a thread titled: 'Hijack this log', which the instructions specifically say NOT to do. A thousand pardons.

I have Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster and run them both fairly frequently. Some things continure to get by them though.

I recently had a problem with my MSN browser. I couldn't log on so I called MSN and the lady there ran me through several things, discovering in the process that 'internet options' could not be accessed through the tools menu in I.E.-trying it produced a message that said something like: 'Due to restrictions on this computer you are not allowed to access this. See your administrator.' I am the administrator. It's a home computer and I know nothing of any restrictions. I can still access internet options through the control panel though. Anyway she referred me to Dell, the manucacturer and the guy there talked me through downloading and running Spy Sweeper and it found numerous spyware and 'traces'.

The above named examples seem to get by everything though. It was discovering 3 examples of 'mail.mailabview' on my download manager though that led me to do a google search for 'suspicious files' and that led me here. So I hope I'm asking in the proper way now for some help in interpreting the 'Hijack this' log, which I've already attached to my previous post.

Please post your answers into your first topic and don't start new ones please.

But please do this:

Download Ad-aware from: http://www.lavasoft.de/res/aaw6.exe

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

icon11.gif Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

  • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
  • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

  • Scan Within Archives
  • Scan Active Processes
  • Scan Registry
  • Deep Scan Registry
  • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
  • Scan my Hosts file
  • Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
  • All of your hard drives

icon11.gif Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

  • Include additional process information
  • Include additional file information
  • Include environment information
  • Include additional object details

icon11.gif Click the Tweak button and select:

  • Under the Scanning Engine:
    • Unload recognized processes during scanning
    • Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
    • Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile

    [*]Under the Cleaning Engine:

    • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

icon11.gif Click on Proceed to save the settings.

icon11.gif Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

  • Use Custom Scanning Options

icon11.gif Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

icon11.gif Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

icon11.gif When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

icon11.gifReboot your computer.

Then post a new log into your FIRST topic. Please don't use attachments but post your whole log into it.

Ok. I wondered! I'll do that and post it again with the first topic. I believe that's where you want it. Right?
